UPS picking up from MS repair centre

And so it begins again...

A week after I get my 360 back I get 3 red lights tonight

Unless I am mistaken, didn't you buy burnout paradise?
I could have sworn I read somewhere online this morning that burnout paradise seems to be causing some 360's to suffer from the 3rlod.
I can't find the article at the momement but I thought is was on either theregister or theinquirer.

Thats BS tbh. No game cooks the 360. Its pure coincidence, go to xbox.com and look in any section and there are people saying "worms killed my xbox" "PGR3 killed my xbox"

i was playing it when it crashed. coincidence i think though. no game should kill a console.

Actually, no it's not.
If you do a search for the post that someone posted with regard to the interview with the member of the Xbox 360 development team, you'll find that he stated that some games that 'push' the 360 could contribute to the 3rlod issue.
It's not the playing of the game itself that causes the issues, more to do with perhaps the amount of heat that is generated.
I wasn't convinced about a game possibly being a contributing factor until I read that article.

Here's the link to the interview I refered to: http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archive...about_xbox_360_red_ring_of_death_failures.php

Q: Does some games more than others cause hardware failure. Gears of War and Dead Rising were thought to be system killers when they came out.

Of course. Infant mortality, which is a weakened mechanical "thing" like a solder joint with a void in it, are exercised to failure by cyclic stress. The number of cycles and the amplitude of temperature change from low to high determine how quickly it will fail. Certain games will consume more bandwidth on the GPU, which has the most substandard thermal solution on the mother board, making it a lot hotter, warping the mobo and flexing the solder joints. Weak joints fail quickly. The better the game, the more often it will be played, again accelerating failures.

Because the games better it will be played more often :D Its not a system killer, it would die anyway. A game that runs a tad hotter would just slightly speed the process up. One of mine RLOD after a Moto gp session, McDaniels died playing lego star wars. The game didnt matter, it was just a matter of time.

I wouldnt believe any of that balls anyway. This from the same people who said the failure rate was well within industry standards for nearly 18 months.

Saying a game is a system killer is a cop out for saying the hardwares crap, it was gonna die anyway but an extra degree killed it faster. I'd bet there is as much of a tempretaure difference between various living rooms as there is between gears and lego star wars.

Mine came back yesterday, 8-9 working days.

Just as I've had this op, I've not felt like playing it! God damn, karma is biting me in the ass at the moment ;p

Was it a brand new or refurbished console? Was it a new serial number on the back and did they fit a new heatsink on it?

No idea to all of those, I think it was my previous one but with a new mobo, as that was what failed apparently.

they replaced the motherboard in mine. then it RROD'd again a week later.

trade in time when i get it back. gonna get me one of the 175w Pro's.

If it's rrod twice I would kick off a massive stink and insist they give you a new un for free....Why spend your own money?

UPS came to deliver my console today but i was at work :( I had no idea they were coming but they left a card saying they will try to deliver it around the same time tomorrow.... when im at work again

My local UPS depot is quite far away too so don't really want to have to pick it up.

Anyone know if its possible to arrange a new time like late afternoon?

Hah, im an idiot. I thought it was the 6th on Tuesday, it was Weds.

Still, bit of an odd way of going about things. It went from awaiting at service centre to shipped to customer on the same day then the tracking was active about an hour after I checked that. They could say "package awaiting pick-up" or something more specific.

Oh well. It's on an XBox I suppose. I just want it more now I don't have it.

Yea it's ****, mine stayed on that for 5-6 days, only took 8-9 working days in total which is OK.

It took UPS longer to pick it up than it did MS to fix it...
