Are these REALLY this cheap now?

For some reason I'm always put off @ highish mileage scoobys... ok like you said Fox 90k isn't THAT much but scoobys are pretty much 100% going to be nailed most of their life. Especially now they are coming down in price.

We have loads down here, and I can honestly say 90% of them wear caps and have no job :D

12k a miles *is* the official figure for average mileage in this country

IAM puts the figure at 8,700, as of 2006. I'll see if I can find some more numbers..

BBC Newsnight says 8,000 also of 2006...

But what's the average mileage for a scoob? Do reps buy them and clock 20,30k p/year? This one has clearly high mileage (for what it is) - and worse, high mileage is going to be much more indicative of a hard life, unlike motorway munchers.

Well I've NEVER heard it to be as low as that. The two figures widely used are 10k and 12k. All the industry trade guides for valuation are based on 10-12k.

Your post is the firstime I've ever seen a figure of less than 10k a year.

Direct from the RAC Motoring Costs report:

On an average of 12,000 miles a year

I'd be surprised! I'm nearing putting on 8k, and i definitely feel like a light driver.

Does that include people that don't drive perhaps? :p

So you are saying the RAC are NOT a motorists group

And you are saying all the guides used by the trade to value cars for tradein etc are wrong?

So they say 10k? Fair enough, not everyone has the same type of people included in their numbers...

No, I simply offered my take on the mileage this Subaru has done. Obviously not all of us are going to have the same view on what is average. I simply offered an opinion as to why this is "cheap".

perhaps we could separate the cars mileage from each drivers annaul mileage? Most cars are driven by more than one person therefore if 2 people each drove 8000 miles in the one car in one year the mileage would be 16000. I know that last year I drove about 75% of my miles in one car, 10% in another and 15% in another.

I'd say that is fairly high for a car like a P1. It may be average mileage across the board but its hardly a car people generally buy for proper use.

Bargain though for such a small outlay.

Or we could just go back to posting uber cool performance stuff nobody had noticed had suddenly got stupidly cheap :p

If you've been watching used Impreza prices over the last 5 years this won't be much of a suprise.:p
