Should I trade in my 360s?

Hard pushed to tell the difference between bluray and hd-dvd unless watching on some seriously high end equipment.

you cant tell the difference in picture Q.

I mean Transformers on Hd-DVD is truley amazing quality, Spiderman 1 ( I repeat 1) is cack on blu-ray and looks the same as DVD.

Its all the way the film is encoded and doesn't reflect which format has a better picture. I have both formats and cant tell the difference between Transformers (HD-DVD) and say Die Hard 4.0 (Blu-ray).

Hd/BD are much better quality than DVD. The money involved to achieve such better quality over DVD is upto the individual. I would say it is, but some say £400 for a HTPC or ps3 for HD-DVD/Blu-ray would be a waste.

What ever floats your boat I guess.

I think both formats are superb and worth the money. Especially if you rent the HD-DVD/Blu-ray disks and dont buy them.

Go for the Elite mate, honestly, 120gb is better to have, whether you'll use it now or not.

As for the PS3 fans, it's utter rubbish to buy a console based on it's movie playback, it's a gaming console, I have a dvd to play DVD's, I have no interest in buying a PS3 and watching Blu Ray, a film is a film, and DVD quality is good enough for me, and most people I would assume!

Unless your a total hi-end video "I can see that shade of black is 2 shades lighter than it should be, instead of concentrating on the movie" then blu-ray, hd dvd etc is not needed for a long time.
Im no MS fanboy, the ps3 is good, but for me, Xbox was the only choice ;)

The difference from DVD and HD/Blu-ray is huge.
And as for buying a PS3 for just film play back why not ? it was voted in WHAT-HIFI for best for price last year for just that reason.

Yeah but how many people watching their PS3 BluRay films are rocking 42" Panny's with 7.1 gut-busting surroud sound (as HD should be experienced) and how many are ghettoing it with 26" Mirais? I have a 32" LG w/ no external speakers and I don't think that's even close to experiencing HD media the way it's intended.

Also, if you're really into your HD films, you'd buy a standalone BluRay player. It's not 2006 anymore, the PS3's BluRay capabilites just don't match up to the current market. It was decent when it launched because of it's price point coupled with the fact that there were hardly any other options. That market has changed, and the PS3 is an inferior choice if you're an afficianado.

As a console however, I think it's coming into it's own. I just don't buy this whole BluRay/Linux box PR stuff.. that argument has no real world weight.

For a start the awards are for 2007 not 2006 just a few months back.
Secondly if you can not see the difference on your 32 LG from dvd and blu-ray then i would get rid of your LG m8

me with a 32" Mirai HDTV - and i tell you now blu-ray or HD-DVD is a lot better picture quality even on this "ghettoing" lol HDTV

as for standlone players why would i want another blu-ray player when i have one in my PS3 thats actually been classed as rather good and totally upgradable via firmware?......so your arguement has "no real weight" for the majority

Quoted for truth, whilst I agree you would not get the "full" hd experience without 5.1/7.1 sound the video difference should be clear as day on your 32 inch LCD.

There is a difference.

Yes, there is a difference I have tried my 360 on HDMI and was underwhelmed in the fact that is not as crisp as VGA (this does a very good job of sorting a lot of the jaggies out on games, most particularly PGR4.) However, it is better than component on my TV (jaggies are very noticeable)

For anyone who says there is no difference between SD and HD movies please go and get an appointment at spec savers, even my mother who is as technologically inept as a monkey could tell the difference straight away.

just get a PS3, because mainly everyone who has both consoles prefears the ps3, its fact really. Unless you like Halo3

Actually, I'd say it was the opposite.
The persons who's opinion I respect the most is Kreeeee and he feels much the same way as me, Wyrdo and McDaniel (who also owns both). The Xbox360 is a better games machine.
I can think of several others too.
