Should I trade in my 360s?

You just made me spit my tea out. :P
Never of thought i would here that in a month of sundays.
But lets not go down that road.

I've always recommended the PS3, just not ahead of an Xbox360. He's had 2 Xbox360's and the PS3 is a very good console (which I have also never denied).

Well i dont see reason in owning all 3, especially owning both 360/ps3, maybe 360/wii as wii is kinda different

What if you want to play HD content, soon the only way will be Blu ray. So why not own one as a cheap player, that has other multi media functions?

Even if you decide every single dual format game you will but on the 360 there are still some decent games coming on the ps3 that are worth a look.

Everyone used to say wii/360 as a pairing but now I think owning both the ps3 and 360 is the best option.

There might be a BR player for Xbox360, so it's possible you could do it on Xbox360 anyway, but I'd be amazed if it was as good as the PS3's BR drive.

I own a PS3 and a Xbox 360 and dont see why you say what you have said. Name a game like heavenly sword or uncharted that is of similar design on the 360? Their isnt one, not a good one anyways.

Both consoles have advantages games wise, the 360 usually gets the good shooters, COD4, Gear of War etc, whilst the PS3 gets more 'fun' games such as ratchet and clank, heavenly sword, uncharted etc. IMO they are miles apart.

Also, I hate the 360 as a media player, always have, yet I love the PS3 as a media player. Yes, its personal preference, but its one of the reasons I bought it.

You can only love one next gen console the most, its the rules :/

Whilst I agree, it doesnt mean you need to come over as a fanboy constantly. Personally, I grew up with the Playstation range, and to me the PS3 is my preferrred console, but that doesnt mean I would recommend one to someone that would be better suited to a 360.

So how will you watch blu ray dvd's or if your not interested recommend I watch them?

Please recommend me a decent blu ray player for £300 that has half the functionality of a ps3 even forgetting games.

What?

I dont care about bluray, where you geting this from?

You said there wasn't the need to own both. I said recommend me a blu ray player then. If your not interested in blu ray what about me, recommend me one.

You said there was no need to own both, go one then spec me one.

Hehe, spoken like true fanboy who hasnt see Casino Royale at 1080p :p

Keep your POS WMVHD, they are not a touch on a proper 50GB bluray.

Prob not true HD, but I dont even have a HD TV.

Keep your Bluray, I dont need one.. maybe when its standard but not now

Hard pushed to tell the difference between bluray and hd-dvd unless watching on some seriously high end equipment.

Well there's really no difference in PQ. The difference lays in that one will be a door stop in 12-24 months and the other will have flourished into the mainstream choice for watching high def movies.

HD-DVD is brown bread. This is has just rolled out the red carpet for the PS3 and blu-ray... Being an early adopter, I'm just glad i went with the right choice and not both... Before Christmas it was still here or there.. Now it's only here, and that here being blu-ray !

I too only went for Blu-Ray, but you can bet your ass I'll get a HD-DVD player. You get movies to the same standard as Blu-Ray for a bargain bin price :D.

I have 2 360s currently, 1 as a spare. Both keeping breaking down. I get free repairs, but getting fed up with the hassle of phoning up, sending them back etc.

Was wondering whether it might be a plan to trade in both consoles (£290) and get a new elite. Bonus would be that my TV currently doesn't acceot 1080P through component, but does through HDMI.

Are the new Elites pretty much bullet proof? If I'm likely to get the same problems I'd prefer to keep 2 so that I can still play the 360 when 1 breaks. Cheers.

If you are looking to play games only then the elite is a good choice and should be more reliable but if like me you are going to use it for more than just games the ps3 is worth considering , trading mine in tomorrow morning :) .

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm not really interested in going down the PS3 route at the moment, very happy with the 360 and the games available. I'll no doubt get a PS3 at some point, but not at the moment.

The guy who suggested a new Pro gives me a quandry. It's about £50 less than the Elite. I do quite like the idea of a black console I guess, but I'm basically paying £50 for a colour as I won't get near using up the 120GB HDD I don't imagine.

Has anyone been able to compare the picture quality of component v HDMI from the 360?

I don't think I'm as big a film buff as some of you guys are. Because I don't see 1080p, HDMI, BluRay vs HD-DVD, upscaling or anything like that when looking at films.

Maybe I'm cheap, I dunno. But there's one feature that impresses the heck out of me, and it beats all the others into a cocked hat (whatever that means).
