Opinions on Nissan Primera GT

btw the paint on the green ones that changes colour as it goes past is called Mecca flare, i know this as i know a lad that used to work in Nissan on the line when these were built.

I'm not really a fan of that colour. The one I bought is metallic green :)

About 10 years ago there were loads of shoddy cars with chromaflare paint round here. Rumour has it that lads who worked in the bodyshop at nissan used to steal it in their flasks . They all looked crap though.

Another one who's radio screen went up the creek. I changed the unit when i bought my GT anyway. Seemed a shame though as the unit was quite good standard. Got a Arctic white saloon myself. You might want to get the driveshafts checked out though as they are waiting to break. The engines are bulletproof and with a little cash you can see some decent gains. One hundred notes and a manifold from America will easily see a 10-15BHP boost as the standard manifold is quite restrictive. Throw some more money on intake, exhaust and some JWT S3 cams and you will be pushing the 200BHP mark. The GT surprises quite a few people. They expect some mondeo type car and before they know it your gone :D.

While out on a spirited drive last year I came up behind a green one of these, the driver booted it and took me by surprise and out of VTEC, took a few corners to catch up again :D

Will be looking for something like this later this year as a runabout.

Neil.

Good to hear you've finally got one. Took mine out for a right hoon today. SO much fun! But i also experienced my first "brake fade" moment and almost **** myself. Get good discs and pads on it and it'll be the best £800 you've ever spent.

These cars handle very well, but make sure you take it past 4000rpm to experience the true fun of it! :D

How do you manage to spend £800 on uprating the discs and pads on a Primera

I doubt even something like a Wilwood kit with calipers, pads and bigger discs would even cost half that?!

Does the trip computer in the GT display the average MPG since reset or is it for the last x number of miles? Also what are the other displays you can choose?

Thanks.

I can't remember off the top of my head as i hardly use all of them. One of them is average speed, another one is how many miles you can do till you need to fill up, one is outside temp, one is a clock, one is mpg and i can't remember the rest! They all start from your current millage so if you reset your miles it will reset all the data. It also adapts to your tank being filled so no need to reset it after you have filled up. Not bad for ten year old motoring :D

It's all in the manual so just look it up in there.

:p Formula 1 disc's and pads.

The things on the LCD display are...

-MPG
-Clock
-Avg speed
-Miles until next fill up
-Miles since last fill up
-Temperature
-Journey time.

To reset anyone of these things just press and hold the button on the wiper control stalk.

hope you enjoy it mate! get yourself over to www.npoc.co.uk, very helpful community over there!! it is a very fun car to own, as said, best when hooning keeping the needle above the 4k mark!! just blown a hole in my exhaust so a ss catback may be in order for me now :)

Thanks for the replies. How have you guys found the MPG on the trip computer? Is it actually accurate?

i found my mpg to be a bit enthusiastic, reading 36 mpg when it was actually around 34 or so (by my calculations....)

is yours standard or did the previous owner do any mods that your aware of?

It's totally standard except the pedals which he put on after the others got worn.

Sorted my insurance today, £770 fully comp (only ~£50 more than TPFT) which isn't too bad considering I have 0 NCB. I did a quote on NUD and it was £1.6k!

How much are they to change? Might I be able to do it myself? Might be able to rope Lashout into it if I offer him a few beers :D

Thanks.

Does anyone have any idea on this please? If it's only a little more to get done at a garage I might as well do that.

Thanks.
