These people should be applauded. They have the right attitude towards electrical goods. We should not be throwing away everything electrical at the hint of any fault and buying new ones. I know why we do this, because white goods are generally so cheap there is no point in buying new ones but it doesnt make it right.

No they are repaired by sheep in the falklands and they only have a flight once a week with space for just one 360 on the pilots knee as the rest of the plane is taken up with post and green wellies.

I worked in the White Goods industry for 27 years and when the Italians came into the company they made us build stuff that could breakdown after 12 months.
Gone were the days of making something last.

I'm going back to 1974 and the Nigerians could fix anything you put in front of them.
This news is so old that pong hadn't been invented yet.

Yes, it is just wrong in my opinion. We should build things that last but cost a bit more. You can always buy white goods second hand anyway because people change them for cosmetic reasons so its not as if without cheap brand new stuff poor people could not have fridge freezers!
