just arrived..my personal review of 3870x2

So generally are people pleased with the performance of the X2?

Any improvement with the official 8.2 drivers?

I have just sold my GTS and quiet fancy giving one of these ago. I have spoken to fornowagain on a number of occasions and I know he is very pleased with his X2.

I'm gonna be replacing me GTS 512 in about 15 mins with an X2, so I'll let you know what I think.:)
 
Got my x2 on Tues. Ive found it tricky to get my dual monitor set up working and also since installing it I havent been able to get 3d06 to start up.

Ive only played COD4 at 1920x1200 with full AA and its not quite as smooth as I had hoped, Id say only marginally better framerates than my GTX.

Im undecided as to whether to keep it at the moment or stick with the GTX. Guess I need more time to get it working properly.

Also a tad noisier than my GTX and chucks out a hell of a lot of heat. Jury is still out foir me on this card.

I wanna find a good reason to keep it as Id like to get an X48 mobo when they arrive but so far its not compelling.

Its certainly tricky for me with GTX's going on the MM for £170 inc. The only thing stopping me buying another GTX is the fact that it would be my fourth.
 
Right installed the X2, drivers cleaned all the nvidia stuff out, loaded the 8.1 drivers, no hotfix installed yet, set everything to performance in CCC, ran "06" and got 14920 marks, me previous best with the 8800GTS 512 was nearly 12800 so thats an increase of 2120 marks.:)
So far quite happy, thats with no overclock on the gpu (at stock 825mhz core, 901mhz memory).
 
Can people on XP32 and Vista64 post up some bench results from the Crysis GPU bench @ 1280x1024 all HIGH no AA. I'm sure this card is performing much better for people on Vista, I would like to see some more results if possible.
 
With regards to the "hotfix" is there a complete driver pack with the hotfix already incorporated, or is it installed like "patch" sort of thing?

From my testing using the methods in the ocuk crysis framerate thread, between vista and xp there was not even 1fps in it to xp.
 
What fps are you getting then?

I'm getting around 45 fps on XP32 which is similar to schumi. The Vista scores are well ahead of XP.

Nope. AA/AF are off, I've just noticed Mip Map detail was set to high quality but I don't think that will make much difference.
 
Just done a few runs of crysis benchie, All on high except shaders, post processing on medium, water and sound quality on low and got the following:

DX10, 1280 x 1024.....33 av fps
DX9, 1280 x 1024.....52 av fps

Seems about right I suppose:).
