Whats the diff and why is tf2 popular, looks like any old team death match game to me just with a comical side and diff style gfx, whats the gameplay like.

And whats the diff from tf2 to the free game ea are making that looks like tfs?

The EA game isn't out yet so i can't comment but i love TF2 for the different styles of each class, and it is just pure and simple fun

The attraction of TF2 isn't just the cartoony graphics but the detail that's gone into the different characters and weapons. Together they raise the comical side of the game above your typical multiplay shooter and turn it into something really quite special.

I spose you either "get" the humour or you don't but it's a riot at LANs.

Calm down. The new BF isn't even out! Plus we hardly know anything about it except that it's free, and very probably similar to other Battlefield games (ie. vehicles and big maps - unlike TF2); I dare say the graphics are quite different too.

Calm down about what, i only was woundering what ppl thought. True the ea game isnt out but there is info released about it which could be used for comparisons.

Take a chill pill mate. :p

The main difference between TF2 and BF: Heroes, is that TF2 is a first person shooter, while BF:H is a third person (or over the shoulder) shooter. Other obvious differences is BF:H is going to be free to play, although there will be micro-transactions for purchasing clothing for your character (the reason it is going to be third person). Apart from the BF:H looks like it is going to be very much like BF 1942, but even more over the top.

Also TF2 is much more than any old team deathmatch game, because to win, you have to actually play as a team. Which is pretty rare for games played on public servers, of course your mileage may vary. :)

hhhahahahaha people dont play as a team on public servers u funny man!

tf2 is all about mindless carnage, bf2 and i assume this new one will try and be more than that and fail as the vast majority of people playing online are complete muppets

I really don't see how people feel they can draw accurate comparisons between a already released game made by the meticulous valve to a game that only a couple of concept drawings and descriptions of its gameplay have been released and it's being produced by EA, one of the companies most guilty of never actually releasing what they say they will.

Think youll struggle to get anywhere attacking or defending if your team doesnt constitute of an appropriate combination of classes. That to me is a for of team play. The classes compliment each other which lets you achieve an objective.

Just because you dont play for your team doesnt mean other people arent making an effort to play whats needed ;)

This is why I do my best to avoid the servers where Im surrounded by people that think Sniper is the best class evah innit

The gameplay is great fun. I can't think of any other team dm's that have actually made me laugh out loud. It's like nine different games in one, all nine classes are so different yet so well balanced on most maps.

You can start as e.g. Soldier with no knowledge of the game and still pick it up and have fun. Or you can take the time to master a class like the Spy and have a completely different experience.

It's only as deep as you want it to be, but if you keep digging, there's a surprising amount of detail e.g. there are some lines that are only triggered after very specific and rare events. I still haven't heard them all after around six months.

tf2's got a lot of personality and is just fun. there are loads of servers that cater for people of vastly different skill levels so i've never had a problem finding a balanced game (in terms of my own skill level). the instant spawn servers remind me of the ut games, especially defending the last cp of dustbowl with loads of players, it rains gibs :D

map knowledge is still key though and that does frustrate me sometimes, as does being sniped when i'm coming out the spawn or a door. other than that it's most defintely worth a look (i've only ever played 3 online games before for any length of time: Planetside, ET:QW and TF2)

Agreed, pointless thread alert.

You mean I can only play for free if I'm naked?

PK!

LOL! Maybe. Although I'm pretty sure you'll start off with a basic uniform.

Another thing the micro-transactions can be used for, is increasing the speed you receive experience points in the game. The reasoning behind that is, someone who only has a couple of hours a week to play, could pay to receive extra XP, so he can stay around a similar level to his friend who can play a couple of hours a night.

Hahahaha yes snipers could be removed from the game and i would be perfectly happy, scouts too they dont really do anything... the soldier is easily the best class although i play a lot of medic as well to at least try and keep my team from killing themselves as often

if you haven't noticed my opinion on public servers is very low, i got the game on the day of release and i think ive only played on servers where people used coms and worked as a team twice

The scout is an amazing class, very easy to get lots of kills running round like a loon double jumping and pumping people full of scattergun shells. If you get behind people you can 1 hit kill a few classes.

Noob class :P just point and shoot... point and shoot! Just have to keep the crosshair on the target

At least Soldiers / Demomen etc have to think about where theyre gonna aim!

Yeah, its hard to find a random server where people play as a team although I have seen it happen.

Better off playing on the same server regularly and getting to know people or playing with mates :) that way teamwork is easier to do. I tend not to play much unless Ive got a few mates on our Vent server :\
