Issue at School

teachers when I get back about paying, because I really need to get into Sixth Form, and if £70-£80 is what i'll cost then I don't mind. Because the other 2 have no ambitions in life and Im not gonna let them ruin mine.

Go to a proper college to do A-Levels rather than a Sixth Form where the teachers will still treat you like a kid?

If you do have to pay to stay at the school have a couple of teachers and witnesses sign a letter written by you saying you pay under protest as you were not responsable for the damage.

The 2 other lads are idiots, and they don't bully me at all.

They didn't both hit it, one of them hit it and the other threw the CD drive out the window before I could even say anything. The teachers know who the 2 boys are as we were kept after school for 40 minutes being shouted out:mad:

I'll speak to my teachers when I get back about paying, because I really need to get into Sixth Form, and if £70-£80 is what i'll cost then I don't mind. Because the other 2 have no ambitions in life and Im not gonna let them ruin mine.

So the teachers knows it was them then??? Do not pay man don't even offer it as a "well if thats what it takes to get into sixth form" thing

Who told the teacher(s) that it got broken?

Did you say they did it or did they tell a teacher that they seen you do it?

Get your parents to write to the headteacher explaining what happened. If they have no joy write to the chair person of the governors (the governors can overturn decisions made by the head).

If your asked to discus the matter in the mean time (unless they're obviously climbing down completely) tell them it's being dealt with between your parents and the head teacher. Is it a member of school management who's told you you'll be billed on normal teacher.

You can always sit your A levels somewhere else and teach them yourself from a book, thats how I got such good marks. :p Nothing worse than going to mind numbing school lessons when you can teach yourself in half the time.

Seeing as the consequences are pretty high you could try showing them how far you're willing to go and say to them that you think the police should be brought in. If they're going to assume you're guilty and issue a punishment just because the person who actually did it happened to have a friend there that's pretty out of order.

Get your parents involved to tell the school you never lie, and this is so unlike you. There's nothing like parental pressure; it makes teachers do anything. Trust me ;)

if your record with the school is good ill doubt they wont let you in for sixthform as i used to get that threat quite a lot when i was in school. at the end they let me in with no problems. theyre probally just trying to scare you in to paying

So true. I got the idiot deputy head to allow me to do an A level they didn't normally offer despite his hypocritical campaign against it.

Explain to them the situation and how you feel it would be unfair to punish you for two others actions. Get your parents to phone the school and complain about it aswell.

Theres absolutely no way I would pay for it. Regardless of just getting it out the way so you get into 6th form.

The school should be insured for damage to their property therefore recouping costs is not important.

not necessarily, the excess on the insurance is probably significantly higher than the cost to replace a £30-£40 CD drive.

In terms of you taking the blame, do as everyone else has suggested and stand your ground. If they start to push you about it and cause trouble, tell them to get the police involved to conduct a proper investigation, and that you will be going to the local paper if the situation isn't resolved satisfactorily.

Do not pay. There is no proof it was you, only their words against yours. I'd personally layeth the smackethdown on them both.

Protest your innocence fully and continuously, I wouldn't be ashamed to bring your parents into the situation if you are able to do so- an irritated parent talking to a headteacher/head of department would only further add to your protest.

The school will almost certainly have some insurance provisions to deal with this but I suspect they are just trying to get someone to pay out of moral decency- understandable, but not at the expense of an innocent party.

If your situation is indeed exactly as you have told us, then you are innocent and should never be penalised. Stick to your guns

The insurance excess will be way higher than the CD drive replacement therefore no pay out.
Do you have "history" at the school that would make the teachers think you are probably to blame.
The main reason they would not want you in the 6th form is if there is a possiblity that you are not likely to get decent results. It is all about league tables nowadays.

"Get your parents involved to tell the school you never lie, and this is so unlike you. There's nothing like parental pressure; it makes teachers do anything. Trust me"

This is absolute rubbish, what sort of a place did you go to Vitet??

When a parent rings me up at the school I work at and a decision has been made, it is never altered. All too often the story told to the parents has a fleeting resemblance to the true facts.

If your story stands up and your conscience is clean then do not back down, be very polite and ask to speak to your pastoral deputy.
Do not even think of paying the cash just to do A levels, that is rubbish.

Agree with PeterT, however if you act like a brat or give the staff attitude then you're screwed. Keep polite, keep your cool and be honest. Most staff will be able to tell you're not lying, teachers are generally pretty good at judging kids.

More so than kids give them credit for!
