So I've had the PS3 a couple of days now...............

You hold them completely different to the way I do. You are definately gripping them so I can see why you would find the 360 controller more comfortable.

I will try and takes pics in a mo - obviousley need someone else to snap the photos.

Here are 2 shots. This isn't playing a game, just holding the controller so it feels comfortable in the hand.I'm not using any muscles to place my fingers and thumbs in the positions they are in.

The amount of effort needed to move the left analogue stick from right to left,is pretty big compaired to the xbox one.I'm not saying its hard to do it on the PS pad, just that its more difficult to do.

To me mate you got your hands far to forward on the PS3 controller, your not using the pad of your fingers, but the middle part of it to use the triggers. When i put my fingers in the position its doesnt feel right at all. Just move you hands down the side of the controller to use you finger tips instead. This brings your thumb into a better position and more comfortable, if i have my hands where you have them i cant use the thumbs sticks as my thumbs are nearly touching all the time.

You mean you don't have a prehensile chin ?

Same with me though, my hands lie much further back on the controller so that my finger tips are on the shoulder buttons, thats on bothe the six-axis and the 360.

It's hard to say a controller that's been superceeded twice in the first twelve months (once by the second version of the Six-Axis and again with the DS3) and has had trigger adapters made for it which have proved very popular, is a good controller.
Like I say there was room for improvement, but your original arguement was that anyone who liked it wasn't being truthfull. I agree the build quality wasn't brilliant but I disagree that it was a BAD controller, just one which the build quality could be improved upon. the actual original DS2 style design was fine though imo.

Edit: On a serious note, are we all gonna start taking pictures? It's all down to personal choice!!! (/me goes to recharge camera batteries :) )

One thing I don't like about the 360 pad, and I was talking to another forum member last night about it who agrees is, why is the left stick placed higher than the right? Is that supposed to be some kind of ergonomically friendly feature, a bit like MS's Natural Keyboards?

Thats one thing I hate about the 360 controller, they should be placed symmetrically like the PS pads, I don't have a mutant thumb.

But I'm sure the masses here love the stick being higher on the left for some reason, it really all is about personal taste.
Just to reassure you - you're not a mutant freak. I much prefer symmetrical analogue sticks too. The 360 ones felt very awkward to me.

The point i'm trying to make is that when using the xbox pad,i don't have to alter my grip when playing a game,i'm just holding the pad. When using the PS pad,i have to change my position.I'm not saying its hard to do,and you need to be a contorsionist, just that its not natural.

He's holding them exactly how I hold them, I'm not gripping it though, it just rests nicely in my hands. I'm not applying any pressure, the pad just sits there, cradled.

When i hold the PS pad for playing games, the arms of the pad are not sat firmly in my palms, and i'm gripping them with my fingers, and there is way too much movement when using the triggers.

i-bert i seriously hope you dont play with it like that! You use the middle of your thumb to control the analog sticks? The thing aint going anywhere let it go!

I prefer my thumbs to be sync, i find its easier to press both of the sholder buttons on the ps3 pad as i find the L & RB buttons a lot less accessible on the 360 pad.

As you can see I tend to have a much loser grip on the controller. I have a mate who finds the PSP really uncomfortable and much prefers using the ergonomic add on thingy which turns it into more of a controller grip. I grip that really losely as well so I find I have no problem at all even after prolongued use.

I really do belive now that the way you naturally hold the controller varies and will have a big influence on your controller preference.

The thing is meant to be gripped.Thats what the arms are for.If you were to shoot a gun, whould you hold it like this............
