So I've had the PS3 a couple of days now...............

I think it all comes back to what we where saying in the beginning if the thread, the PS3 controller is a finger pad and the 360 controller is a palm pad, it's the same with mice, some people hate ergonomic logitech mice that fill your whole hand and prefer a finger mouse like the razors or vice verser, I know one thing, if your trying to hold the PS3 pad like the 360 pad then your never going to used to it.

Grow up please.
My point is that you HAVE to hold it like you do because you can't hold the pad how it was intended for Eastern gamers.

So that doesn't explain why I find the 360 uncomfortable then, even if I do hold it how it's "supposed" to be held.!

I just think you can't accept that not everybody feels the same way about it as you do tbh.

I couldn't care less what other people think on the matter, I'm describing how it affects me and why many other people aren't happy with it, if you are then great. It's a debating forum, we don't have to all agree. There's no right or wrong.

Well, no.
You are stating this as fact, so you're not venturing an opinion...

Just gotta ask why do people have full blown tantrums over who owns what console, who likes what pad etc. Let the Sony chairman, Bill Gates or Nintendo chairman bitch it out. Lets just play the games on the platforms we chose to purchase.

Personally I don't care what anyone else has bought I like my Wii and PS3. Im happy if you like your 360 and nothing else or whatever........

At the end of the day we aint console reps, so who cares?

If your that upset about the controllers for any console send a letter to customer services for nintendo, micr$oft or sony. There the ones that need to know.

<3 you all

He doesn't have to. Pretty much EVERYONE who is being honest will say the same things. Some people knew straight away, some people needed the DS3 first, or some just used an Xbox360 pad. Either way, the Six-Axis is an utterly crap control pad.

What you need to do is put In My Opinion on the first line of your sig.

its ok if you have pixie hands, i thought we already established this? seriously anybody with normal sized hands should be having problems with these pads. holding it normally as im apparently supposed to manes hold my thumbs at such an angle that using the sticks causes pain after half an hour or so. seriously, how can you not have problems with this unless you have tiny hands?

We are obviously all deformed!

I couldnt imagine using it any other way than The Claw method! It feels retarded any other way.

Here's a little test for anyone with a sixaxis or DS3 - grip it normally and then relax your thumbs, where is your left thumb - over the d-pad or the analogue stick? Mine is over the d-pad which isn't the primary control in any of the games I have. Now put it on the left analogue stick and move the stick fully right and feel how it stretches your thumb.

Next put your right thumb on X and pull the R2 trigger fully (with your middle finger) - now look at your middle finger, see how it's bent about 20 degrees compared to the tenden running down the back of your hand? Also your ring finger that's wrapped round the back of the pad is bent a little too and see the stretch between your middle and ring fingers. And also see how cramped your thumb is on X if you are using the tip of your thumb. Finally when pulling R2 trigger, press X and see how your fingers under the pad grip it tightly.

Add all these things together and I personally find it a fatiguing pad for extended use.

Personally I find the PS3 pad fine, but ive grew up with it since the PS1 so I guess im just used to it. The triggerss could do with updating though, they can hurt your hand during racing games after prolonged use. I dont know why, but whilst I find the 360 controller more comfortable, on shooting games I far prefer the PS3 pad.

I don't really have a problem with the PS3 pad, the only thing that really bothers me now is the thumbstick position, the triggers from the mag are a godsend.

The pad shape is totally comfortable to me if its held with the D-pad as my resting point for the left thumb, just like it was designed to be with the Dualshock 1. The ergonomics work fine that way but the sticks were bolted on in a hurry and it shows, its something that should have been reconsidered this time out imo. The trigger thing just adds to the frustration, the mag ones look good.

fish99 has his point there the D-pad isn't the primary method of control anymore and yet the pads designed for that to be the resting point of your thumbs, its an outdated design regardless of if you can get used to it or not.

I have no problem with the PS3 pad also.

Have used it since the first Dual Shock came out, so good or bad I'm just used to it.

Prefer the 360 pad overall though, even if the d-pad is pathetic.

That's how I feel about it too, I mentioned it earlier in the thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11114141&postcount=160

Calling it pathetic is like giving it a compliment, it's worse!:p

Bang on there Nokkon and with this many revisions its criminal that nothings been done about it. Even the similarly shaped Gamecube pad which some may not have liked much switched the D-pad and analogue stick around, I personally found that a joy to use.

No I don't. If people are happy using it, fine, but it's not a good pad. A good pad doesn't have 2 revisions in 12 months, which is what I said.

Well if this is what you meant then fair doo's. But it certainly isn't how it came across. You stated it was FACT several times and said anyone who did prefer the PS pad wasn't being truthfull. Can't you see how that would fuel the debate?

The thing is though, I DO hold it normally! What is 'normal' to you may not be 'normal' to me. I hold the PS3 pad with fingers rather than grip and it's also the way I hold my mouse, my PSP and almost every pad I can think of before it - even going right back to the old Quickshot joysticks. I haven't adapted this grip because I had to, it's the way I gripped it from day one so it's my natural preference.

I see what you are saying above though, for anyone does does try and grip like you are saying would find it uncomfortable. Likewise I find the 360 pad uncomfortable, after prolongued use, for the very same reason - it doesn' comform to my natural playing style/grip.
