Virgin to Increase speed for free

sweet. Well im on 20mbs now in lincoln, whenever they wanna pipe me 50mbs I'll gladly accept it, though as mentioned id rather have say 30/5mbs up cause at the moment im kinda upstream limited.

20mbs people are not getting upgraded for free. if you want 50mb/s yourll have to pay extra for it. at least thats what it said on the VM site when i read it. This free upgrade thing is for 4mb people getting upgraded to 10mb
 
Personally I think part of NTL's troubles started due to them offering ever-increasing 'headline' speeds, without really having the local infrastructure to support it in all areas.

I had the 10mbit package when it was top dog, and in the end moved to ADSL2+ instead (meaning I had to change phone provider too!) just to get away from the horrendous packetloss at peak times.

They could offer me 50meg, 100meg, 1gig or whatever it wouldn't matter, I still wouldn't go back.
 
I'm the opposite, I went from NTL cable to ADSL and within 4 months I was begging NTL to have me back. After my ADSL experience I wouldnt go back if the ISP payed me lol
 
I was a adsl user for a good 4 years we moved to a cable area 3 months ago and i goto say there 20 meg is amazing, 2300kbs who don't want that even at peak times it only slows to around 1600kbs, all i ever see is people bitching over speeds if i had done that all the time with adsl i would have had a lot of posts.

Same here really. ADSL was up and down like a yoyo and general crap speeds.

Went over to cable and went onto the 4mb package, was always downloading at 430kbs. Was amazing.

Now ive downgraded to 2mb and im always getting 230.

I also wouldn't go back to ADSL :p
 
I used to be on virgin 10mbs when i moved home i had to get adsl now i have just purchased my 3rd home which i will be staying at for years to come so looking forward to tomorrow for my 20mbs.
