just arrived..my personal review of 3870x2

Just an update here, Vista 32bit performance is the same as before, but for some reason, XP (DX9) has improved tenfold. I can now run crysis with virtually all on high except shadows, post processing, and hold an average 40-45 fps with no sudden drop in framerate. I changed me overclock from 366 x 9 to 412 x 8, both give me 3.3ghz, but the memory speed is a lot higher than before, and that seems to have improved things a lot. Going to work now, but will experiment later when I get back.:)

What website lets you try out cards then return them? sounds a bit crazy.

Hmmm, might aswell have GPU Rentals, would not mind taking the 3870X2 for a test drive :D, whilst I'm at it might get an Ultra, GTX, 9600GT, 8800GS and every other card too test them out then return em :D.

All reputable e-tailers do, to answer your question.

If I'm happy with something I keep it. If I'm not I return it. Whats crazy about that? Sounds perfectly rational to me.

The consumer - thats you, me and everybody else in this wonderful country by the way - has the legal right to return goods within 7 days if they are not happy with them. It doesn't just apply to graphics cards, it applies to ALL goods bought via the internet.

Crysis is running very nicely for me now, DX9 with a Very High config @ 1680x1050 and im not really seeing anything below 40fps. This is on the first few levels mind. I'm glad i made the the move to Vista now. :)

Being able to return goods within a certain time period when delivered over a certain distance is law in this country. Do some reading on distance selling regulations.

Edit: Oh, got beaten to it, didn't see that post. Whatever, point still stands redundant or not.

mmm you guys reading the distance selling act with ROSY tinted glasses

I thought you could only send back within 7 days if item is UN-USED !!

its not like a 7 day free trial !!

would you be happy if say OCUK or another retailer sent you a "used" but in sellable state say GTX or X2 if you've just forked out 280 quid ??!!

Hang on here, im not the one that writes the sale of goods act

The 7 day grace is simply because you have no way of seeing the product or having a demonstration in the shop before you buy.
