OcUK Trackday Date - Feb 10 or 17?

He had pagid's on it, don't know the exact model, but they were certainly up to the job. His problem was the rotors IMO.

Definately, the first sign of disks overheating is the judder. This may well go away after a bit of use on the road though.

This is the problem with really good pads that don't fade, they just move the problem to the next weakest link.

From what he was saying last night (and from what we could see of the rotors in torchlight), they are slightly warped, and the points at which they are drilled, the rotors are starting to fall apart!

Yeah sounded up to the job?

If you send the pads outside there adhesive (where they deposit pad material on the disk) temp range so they be come abrasive and then the rotor will look raped. This is due to the wrong type of pad rather than the actual rotor, the symptons just show up on the cast iron disk material, same material as 99% of any other brak disc.

The overheated pad then dumps cermatite layers on the disk unevenly causing the runout attributed to 'warped my disks' symdrome. Best junk the DTI gauges though if the same job can be done an night with a torch :P

But hell, why not fit some AP 6 pots when a pad change could do the job?

Well cracks will cause juddering, another example of why drilled disks are pointless.

I have had disks judder then clear up, this is usually due to either pad deposits or areas of the disk turning cementite, these were plain disks though and on my old car. Never had any probs with the brakes on the S

He's running new Pagid RS19 which are certainly up to the job. I go along with the pad deposits theory, it's certainly more likely than the warp theory....

Awesome:cool: Could I trouble you for the full size one of the Civic please dude?:p

No problem, I've added you to msn. I have a few others of your car too that turned out reasonably.

I thought your exhaust sounded much better than the super loud one you had at the RR by the way :D

unlucky el! Sounds exactly the same as when my old engine died, oil surge caused starvation to one of the pickups causing bottom end failure :( It was cheaper for me to replace the engine than get it fixed though, was about 25 hours labour for the fix!

mine just happened on a backroad blat too with a tight but long right hander, it kills a LOT of duratec v6s (infact the guy i sold my 2nd engine to was buying it for exactly the same reason!) Dunno what it's like for your engine but it's reccomended for duratec v6 owners without the baffled sump to run just a smidge ABOVE max oil because of this, It's happened to a few people who have been smack bang between min and max

Tom.

This is one of the reasons why I don't fancy tracking the CTR without a baffled sump as its known to have issues of oil starvation. You can over fill the oil, but there's still the risk if you burn a lot of it off during your time on track.

It's £200 for a baffled sump, not too bad if I was to make it a regular thing.

Are you saying that with Lewis Hamilton in your drivers seat, that car wouldnt have gone round that track any quicker?

I wouldn't have expected you to misquote somebody as blatently as that Fox!

Finally got my log in authorised. Had a great day and was good racing with Gibbo. Was very fast on the track although I think I was faster on the straight and corners ( with help from my brakes ofcourse lol ) :D

Sorry to hear about the Leon. I had my Audi TT engine go on me a while back and it was a terrible experience.

Let me know the next track day .. cheers

HI m8

Yeah I definetely want your brakes! :D

Corners I gotta disagree though because if you were faster on corners and on the straights then how come I was able to pass and lap you. ;)

I was taking it bit easy cos the car was twitchy. I put it down to the cold tyres at first then that episode where I was snaking all over the place with Wil as passenger didnt help my confidence. Also I didnt always keep mine in race mode which gives me the extra power :p

I am sure there will be a next time :D
