10000RPM or RAID (Striping)?

In terms of random access time the 10K rpm will still be faster. RAID0 tends to have a random access time slightly longer than that of the constituent drives.

Which is faster in real world use depends on the workload.

I belive the RAID would be slightly quicker. But depends on what it is you do. Other times the 10000 would be quicker.

Why not! :D

But seriously, in terms of disc access speed.
If I were to use 2 X 7k RPM HDs in Raid or 1 10000rpm HD, which would give quicker access?

I've got 2 x 10000RPM Raptors in my rig running in RAID0 and its super faster, load times are great :D

i've NEVER had a raid0 fail, been using it for about 4 years (in multiple machines)

i use robocopy to backup any files i really need, and i keep an acronis true image image of the fresh install

2x74gb 16mb cache raptors in raid0 is the way to go

or 4 if you can afford it

Would 4 raptors be effectively 4 times the data rate?
(or thereabouts)
