As a noob in training, anyone got any suggestions for how to get some decent shots of this event? I'm guessing I'm not going to get super awesome pictures with my 400d and kit lens, but It's not like I'm going to get another chance for a while! ;)

Just been out to get some more practice shots...complete cloud cover where I am... :(

AtomicBanana, check out my thread below for some ideas, basically the 18-55 lens more than likely hasn't got the reach required to get any kind of close up of the moon itself.

You could try for long exposure landscape shots with the moon arcing overhead
That is if there isn't heavy cloud cover like there is here.

Stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org/) has the eclipse starting about 1.30am.

Well, at least I spent an hour out in the morning air.
Had one chance where the cover broke for a bit but didn't reach the camera in time. :(
Ah well, maybe next time.

Same, stopped up until 1am... looked outside and never seen so many clouds!

O well... maybe in another 7 years i will get it :)
