Metal with people who can sing or no vocals at all

Children of Bodom?

I think they might have the odd song without singing.. although I like all their music.

Oh and some Katatonia and Anathema.

My votes go to:

QOTSA
Opeth
CKY
Deftones (their lastest is pretty scream free, but I will always have a soft spot for 'around the fur' tho)

List me some bands people. I say metal but anything with technical talent is fine. I just can't stand screaming. They have a great song and IMO ruin it with the screaming.

Liquid Tension Experiment
An Endless Sporadic
Breaking Benjamin
Between the Buried and Me - So good I can just put up with the screaming
Death From Above 1979

All great stuff. So list me some bands people.

BTW expect more of these threads from me for different Genres.

Technical talent? Fine but you will probably dislike the vocals.

Necrophagist are one of the most technical bands out there, along with the likes of Nile.

High quality live video:
Good-ish quality live:
Bunch of solos:
Studio song:

Also if technical drumming is your thing I highly recommend Behemoth, their drummer is SICK.

Behemoth drum solo:
Behemoth video:

Rhapody (of Fire ¬_¬) are also very good, but not screaming/growling just clean vocals, and quite technical IMO.

Emerald Sword:
Black Dragon (I know not a Rhapsody song but sounds similar, Luca Turilli):

Protest the Hero

Aren't they like Bring Me The Horizon? aka faggy metal for posers? Or maybe I got them mixed up.

Yeah. A bit like Blessed By a Broken Heart. But with less hairspray, tight clothing and gayness. And also less Canadian.

Ah I saw the myspace now, lol ridiculously over-photoshopped.

Oh by the way I also recommend Shining, it's quite harsh vocals but jesus they don't half have some beautiful melodies and spoken parts. (as well as excellent ambient)

No one said they were. I said in my post that it doesn't need to be metal. What I am after is "technical" music if you like.

Oh, I didn't realise it was you who was the OP! In which case I would recommend the following decent metal - Titaniumx3 has done most of the work already:

Atrox
To-Mera
Forgotten Silence [excellent Czech band with male and female vox. Get hold of KaBaAch if you can]
Akphaezya - look for this later this yaer, it's currently being mastered
Pin-Up Went Down
Biomechanical
Redemption
Stolen Babies

That'll do for now.

BMTH are about 29 times heavier than Protest The Hero.

Just thought I'd add that. ok.

Just watched that Necrophagist - Extreme Unction vid, love the music! The vocals are not for me though, their stage presence is non exsistant aswell, the drummer actually looks bored at some points :(

Still can't stand BMTH though. :p

Yeah the vocals put off quite a few of my friends, I like them though, as for the stage presence well yeah but it's pretty damn technical. :D

They got a new drummer since, Marco Minneman, he's intense.

:D

I was put off by the vocals at first, by the way. ;)

Darkest Hour! He does scream, but its irrelevent. Cause it works with the music. It adds to the atmosphere. Mega-technical too.

Obviously Slayer.

The only album where the vocals are good is Resensement. Ultima and their self-titled album have pretty bad vocals in places.

I doubt we'll be hearing anything from them in the future, unfortunately.

That is a shame because I really liked Resensement. The singers voice in all honesty wasn't all that spectacular but it worked wonders for the end product, a top quality prog metal album.

BTW, I'm looking very forward to the Akphaezya album. Despite the low bitrate, I frequently listen to the samples on the myspace page in anticipation. Their singer Nehl Aëlin to my ears has a very beautiful, silky and syrupy voice and seems very versatile too. I Can't wait! :D

Yeh this kind of stuff is not what I'm after. I don't mind slayer but its not my type of music.

Here's what happened when I first heard Raining Blood by Slayer. Track starts off really cool. Then it goes into the heavy "mosh" part and I get bored, then the vocals come on and I switch the track.

One song I have been listening to over and over again today is My Heartstrings come undone by Demon Hunter. Nice dark track with really great vocals.

Still, Darkest Hour are fantastic. Slayer are a band you need to listen to a few times to get. It's good to listen to Reign in Blood once or twice before making a real judgement call. Check out Seasons in the Abyss, or maybe even the newer stuff like Diabolous In Musica or God Hates Us All, cause it's slightly diffrent to the older stuff.
