DELL XPS M1530

The BCM2045 is Bluetooth while the PCI device is indeed the audio. I'm using the R171789 driver. I had some trouble with this at first, like it would say some ExitError, or when I got it to reboot first during installation, it would say the device was not supported! But then I found that when you first try to install using this driver, if you have a 'Found new hardware' thing popping up, then let it scan your PC for the driver and it should find it.

And is it just me or is this laptop quite highly charged because I've had it connected to the mains non-stop for about 4-5 hours now, and I've started to get tiny static shocks from it, mainly around the keyboard area.

I got the same error messages, tried what you suggested, but nothing....couldn't find any drivers :(

EDIT:

Fixed - thanks.

That is a commonly reported thing with the XPSM1530, the reviews I saw mentioned it.

Ah ok, that kinda makes me feel a bit better now. I thought maybe it was to do with the AC adapter, particularly the way I plugged in one half into the brick cos it has no signs about which way you can plug it in. I tried the other way and maybe it's a coincidence but so farm less shocks!

Anyways, I'm gonna format it again tomorrow cos I mucked it up somewhere, and this time I'm gonna write down a detailed list about what files I use and what order I install them in. I spent so much time today with trial and error going through many different driver versions until I got it right, so I definitely should keep note.

I'm heading to bed now as I've been up since 10am working with this laptop :) I'll try and compile my info by tomorrow night.

I would also like to share with you guys that I've just run 3DMark06 on mine and I got 4445 points using the 169.09 drivers. I'm glad I paid the extra £40 or so for the 8600M GT.

Those of you who received their M1530 and 1330s do you guys also have the music stuttering issue? :(

It's getting quite ridiculous I'm getting a few stutters every 5 minutes or so :(

Sorted the audio issue by disabling all sound enhancements in windows vista if anyone is even remotely interested..

Others have reported success by turning off one of the wireless bands off e.g. turning off 802.11 a

Ok i'm having a problem finding my wireless card?

Gone into networks and nothing seems to be there an icon that representing wireless?

I've switched it on using the side buttons too.

I've tried to add a wireless device to network but it says no wireless devices were found?

Any ideas please? I'm on vista which is coming off soon as i can't stand it!

I'm about to format my new XPS M1530 and put XP on it.

If i keep the MediaDirect partition intact and don't touch it will it still work even though i've installed win xp?
