i think you'll find that the scene represented a form of pathetic fallacy for the subject item and therefore was an integral part for users to utilise in their guessing..

But the cat was needed to let you know it was a cheezburger and not a plain hamburger.:)

Or maybe not taking things so seriously? The distraction drawings are all part of the fun. :p

And anyway, the "I can haz cheezburger cat" was directly relevent to the answer! I for one thought it was a class-A attempt at drawing a clue for "cheeseburger" (even if the drawing failed a little...).
