Football *SPOILERS* 23/25 February - Inc. Carling Cup

Oh well the the second coming of the Wor Messiah is hardly the change in fortunes they Geordies had hoped for. Im sure a few of them called Big Sam incompetent for putting players out of position. N'Zogbia at left back for example :D

Fat Sam was incompetent for spending over £12m on two of the most embarrasing players in our history- Smith and Barton.

Before the goal Ronaldo had hardly touched the ball. Even now he's been quite poor yet still has an assist and a goal to his name, suits me :)

Funny that.

A lot of the Newcastle fans on here were claiming that Smith was just the kind of player they needed back in August

Some Man Utd fans love Smith for his heart and do or die attitude for the team

personally thought he was never the class we needed - good midtable player and pretty versatile, but nothing special at all (and he lets himself down a bit too frequently for me)

newcastle arnt looking too bad. Defensive is crap but we've made a few chances up front.

However man u are a class above and are going to give us a good going over.

to be quite honest if its a tackle like that then the offending player should be out for at least the same time as the injured player instead of just getting banned for a few games .

red card = 3 or 4 match ban (1 month)

broken leg = 6 - 9 months out.

So imo taylor should be out of the game for at least the same amount of time as Eduardo

Either this or their team is docked points or something....

what utter nonsense, there was no intent, 99 times out of 100 there would be no injury at all from an identical tackle

think before you type and stop being so wound up, and it's hardly like he has a violent reputation

yes Arsenal fans you're upset because Eduardo is out and its going to effect the team as a whole but try and be a little bit mature about it k?

also I love the fact people on here still think the majority of Geordie's think that Keegan was going to bring instant miracle changes, it takes time

Wenger says he (the player sent off today) should never play football again.
Ugh.
I think a manager will feel a close bond with his players - so to see one of them hurt so badly - he is obviously going to go off the handle a bit. This is exactly why sliding tackles with 2 feet or high off the ground should be getting 5+ match bans. Been a few incidence over the last few months which have got nothing / yellow cards just like this - so it was only a matter of time.

And yes, I'm very aware of the fact that Arsenal has someone who is as bad as most in Eboue - I dislike his as much as others.

I'm also very aware that Taylor didnt go into the tackle wanting to hurt the other player, but I think we need to start clamping down on players, and dishing out serious length bans is the way we need to go.

@Nitro_Junkie: Its not just about intent though is it? If you are on the phone and accidently run someone over you get banged up for a few years (hopefully) - if you go to the judge and say "it was an accident guv", should you just get a slap on the wrist? I'm not saying a 9 month ban is fair, but more than 3 games for sure. Yeah many people do tackle like that and there often isnt a serious injury like today, however if you start saying "do a tackle like that and get 3 match ban, hurt someone in a tackle like that and you are out for 5->10 games..." that will hopefully stop people even thinking of tackles like that.
