Who's Ditching 8800 for 9800?

If the 9800GTX offers 60%-100% performance increase over my 8800GT then maybe.

But they are litrally overclocked 8800's so there really is no point. Overclocked overprices 8800's.

Sure is it seems.

Overclocked GTS that can do Tri-SLI

Hm, yeah, remember those crazy numbers GPU-Z was reporting about the 8800 GT when it was being speculated upon? That's right, it talks crap before it's configured correctly to detect pieces of hardware.

Pre-release it means crap.

Wait... That's actually just a picture of a GPU-Z shot of an 8800 GTS? What does that prove?

Too early to say, specs are not official yet (?). I most likely won't upgrade though.

Not surprised if it's more like a revision of 8 series, I mean ATi has done the same so why not nvidia? They will milk as much as possible until it's absolutely necessary to update the current architecture.

The performance of the 9600GT has left me quite open minded about what we might see from the 9800GT and GTX.

I mean, on paper the 9600GT looks unimpressive (just 64 stream processors) but seems to perform as well as a 3870 and not a huge distance behind the 8800GT.

I think a 9800 card will turn out to be a worthwhile upgrade for peeps on G80 cards.............like me! ;)

+1. That was basically what I wanted to say. <<

Ta.

Just noticed how cheap the 3870 is now. That's a good move for ATI now that the 9600GT is out for around the same price.

Its Sunday morning, I have a rare weekend off work and Ive just realised that Ive sat here for the last hour reading this crap!

In fact I spend far too much of my life reading and contributing to the junk spewed forth on these forums.

Dunno why I've allowed myself to be caught up in this obsessional, hysterical GPU rat-race. Its like we're all chasing the unattainable.

The Nvidia/ATI marketeers who monitor these forums are laughing at our unceasing gullibility.

They leak a tiny nugget of information or disinformation and watch us go ballistic hurling insults at each other and arguing about trifling and utterly inconsequential details. They must sit back and laugh as we do their jobs for them creating a buzz about the lateset must-have gpu that will make no discernible difference to our current games.

Im off to the gym.

I suggest that those of you who arent too fat to walk should do the same.

Now that's an amusing post, get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? Some people like fast cars, the latest football boots, what's wrong with people wanting the latest graphics cards? Sounds like you're having personal problems.

Yea I'm going to the gym too, not all of use sit on the PC all day... I'm waiting for a sunny and warm day then I'll never need to be inside.

Pretty much in the same boat as you.

If they turn out to only be minimal improvements at a silly price, I think I might pick up another cheap 8800GT when the prices plummet, and go SLI.
