Got my 22" at a bargaintastic price so not about to give it up for a looooong time. I mainly game so bigger screen = more powerful graphics card required so am gonna stick to 1680x1050 for now, viewing area is a bonus but not worth upgrading for.
Definetly wanna get a 24" screen. It's just a bit out of budget at the moment. I can afford a 22", which I'd probably do... except I'm upgrading from a 20" Apple screen. There's something sexy about these screens that you don't get with normal pc screens. So i'll wait til I can afford the 24" and that way I wont mind losing the Apple look.
I'm on 20". 24" seems a little overkill because of the native resolution (1920xsomething). But I sometimes wish I had a 22" because 1680x1050 on a 20" produces a sharp image - making jaggies in games all the more apparent

Are you still recommending Plasma screens for 40" movie viewing James? and if so I wonder what a windows desktop and gaming would be like on a Full HD 40" Plasma?
I reckon LCD would be better for windows and gaming right? (or wrong?)
I know burn-in isnt as much of an issue these days but on a plasma wouldnt a desktop scenario just be asking for trouble? stationary icons and start buttons etc.
