Got the engineer booked for tmrw - phoned Dell ireland and they have checked and said that an LG has been ordered for me . . . . . fingers crossed !

Little tip - if you want to speak to someone UK/ireland based, phone customer services during the daytime, then when the operator person picks up, they will ask if you are having problems with the laptop - tell them that you are not, you want to return the laptop, and you need to speak to someone about that - then they have to put you through to Uk/Ireland - and hey presto you can usually get much better customer care results via them.

I have had my eye on one of these for a little while now. I think as soon as the Outlet runs one of their £55 off or free delivery promotions, I'll pick one up.

What's the battery life like on them? 6 and 9 cell so I can compare.

Thanks

my 1330 9 cell battery lasts about 4.5 hours of mixed use, screen about half bright.

Just deciding between 1330 or 1530.
Can someone clarify the BASE graphics option for the 1530?
I see some are listed with 256mb 8600 and others do not list graphics - are these integrated or 128Mb 8400?
Also is bluetooth standard or an option?
Most of the outlet 1330 seem to have bluetooth listed but none of the 1530!

Bluetooth is a option on the 1530 i was lucky enough to get one with that on though it wasn't needed really.

If they don't have a graphics card listed there intergrated as far as i know.

There's 3 on there atm just checked

Farooq - How did you get an engineer out to swap the screen ? Also, how did you push Dell for an LG - I have got someone coming out wed, but want to make sure its an LG, not a Samsuck . . . .

Spoke to one person who said that my screen was within spec. I gace up and said that I would be in front on machine later that night and would run the diags he suggested. Rang again the next day and got through to someone else, explained that I'd done all tests and that screen was grainy and slightly darker on the right than the left (it was.... honest). I requested an LG screen, after some checking he ordered the LG replacement kit below.

I've did have an AU optronics 1440x900 screen.
New replacement screen was installed today.... it was a LG Phillips one :)..
It looks great, not grainy at all and no issues at all, really pleased with it now.

Parts that were ordered for me were:

P/N:C930C
SERVICE KIT..., LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WXGA+, TLF, M1530

Just bear in mind that this kit was for 1440x900...

Overall a happy bunny :)

I see. Thanks for the info. I have a 1680 x 1050 Samsuck screen, and have asked the Dell people to come out today and swap it - I have specifically requested an LG, but from what I have read on other forums, people often end up with substitutions :(

Anyways, will feedback to the thread how I get on later today.

I'm just using NVIDIA GeForce drivers from the Dell website:
FILE NAME: R168180.exe

I'm not planning on OC it or anything so it works fine for what i need it for.

Yeah Xp is a lot better in my eyes :).

Thanks for that.

Well I just tried 171.16 and it seems to be working a treat. Oveclocks nicely as well.
Just ran 3dmark06 - 55041

Try showing the Manuf ID for the monitor. See what it says there.

What are the delivery times like now? Are they quite quick with the M1530's? :)

OK XP is working great but for some reason it is not picking up my bluetooth device.

It is enabled in BIOS but there is nothing in device manager. I try to install the driver and it just tells me to turn the switch/FN+F2 on. I have turned the switch on and off but no bluetooth light on :(

Any idea?

Do you have the yellow question mark in the device set up?

I got my drivers off dell's web site and a few pages down on this thread too.
Haven't noticed it not working though i don't really use it.

One thing i have noticed is when i use the switch to switch it on or off on the side i don't get the little display that i once did.

Though at the end of the day i couldn't get wireless to work at all at first and it's working great now so i'm not messing around with anything now LOL :D.
