Western Digital RE 2500ys hard drive dilemma

Can any one please help me; I have just purchased a Western Digital Caviar RE 2500ys RAID edition hard drive by mistake. Have checked reviews and it seems that mainly used for RAID configurations. I only want to use it as standalone drive; I have also read that it as got something (TLER) time-limited error recovery, which can cause problems on standalone set up
Can any one please advise?

Yes although I could take it back, would the drive be a problem as a standalone ???

The TLER means that if it cannot read a block of data it will give up fairly quickly unlike a standard HDD which may well spend a minute or so trying to recover the data.

At some point you may get disk errors and you may have a slightly reduced chance of recovering that particular file.
But then.. you back up anyway....... don't you

The drive will work absolutely fine on its own and in my opinion is a better drive than the standard version.
