Battlefield: Heroes [Video + Preview]

Even if it does turn out to be rubbish at least it's free.

I'm assumming this runs over the web, if so is it a flash based game, if so has me worried if this is the direction it's going.

I'm assumming you still need to install the game prior to playing it.

If you can do everything in that video, in the final game. Then i for one am very impressed since its a free game. I shall be playing it upon release :)

I don't believe its a browser based game, we're only just getting there with Quake. :)

You say it like it matters, even slightly, whatsoever.

Just strikes me as rather silly that they should choose to make ANOTHER WW2 shooter, yet completely ignore its context.
And the fact it doesn't matter to you really doesn't mean it wont, or shouldn't, matter to anyone else. Sorry to dissapoint.

Oh, and Sly. Brilliant, just brilliant. Maybe you could peddle that on your local comedy circuit?

Just because it's very loosely based on World War 2 doesn't mean anything.

It's not supposed to be a simulation it's supposed to be fun and it's not even trying to sell itself as WWII.

It's not that it doesn't matter to me, it's that it doesn't matter at all.

If you want a World War 2 simulation, buy Panzer Generals.

How is this anything like TF2, apart from having cartoon style graphics?
The fact that had TF2 not come out, it wouldn't have cartoon graphics. EA are king at stealing other peoples ideas, releasing something and then dropping all support for it at the drop of a hat.

There have been cell-shaded games before TF2, I guess it was just a rip-off.

Following your logic I can literally compare TF2 to Jet Set Radio.

Well there's no facts about when EA started the game designs. But they've said themselfs it was in development because TF2 was announced (as it is today). Plus it hardly looks like TF2, apart from some character faces (which can be customized). TF2 was hardly the first game to use that style anyway.

And how are they droppeding support for a game that's not been released?

I said they were renowned for it, not that they had already dropped support for a game that hadn't been released - that would be a bit illogical wouldn't it.

Come on, are you some sort of EA fanboy or can you seriously not see how the huge success of TF2 hasn't led directly to this game being on the table? EA want a piece of the pie. So DICE make the realism-based BF1, BF2, BF2142 and then out of the blue they just decide to make a "cartoon based war game"... holy epiphany Batman!

Yeah I must be a huge EA fanboy because I won't find any reason to whinge about a free game.

Having ads shoved down your throat may be free to you if your time is worthless.
Holy crap, you better get rid of your TV then. In fact add the internet to that as well.

It's a free game. Ad support doesn't bother me in the slightest if the game is free, it's a system that has been in place for ages and it's been successful in titles like Anarchy Online.

If the game turns out to be crap, I simply won't play it. Total loss to me: £0.

LOL! You haven't even seen how the use the ads yet, and as far as we know its only on the website. Just like every other website on the internet these days.

And even though I never played it, the devs said that 1942 was the inspiration for this game, because it wasn't hugely realistic.

I block ads on the Internet, and I fast-forward through ads on TV :D
