Midweek Football *Spoilers* - 4th-6th March - CL/Uefa Cup/PL

Man United should go through, and if they play anywhere near their best then they are all but through. Ronaldo doesnt perform enough in the big games for my liking, so about time he does. The key will be whoever keeps the other teams best two quiet will win (Rooney and Ronaldo or Benzema and Ben Arfa).
Ronaldo was one of, if not our best player in the last leg. He has been our best player in numerous big games, but people now judge him on goals scored, and that's not a fair assessment as he's not a striker. Better teams have better defences, so Ronaldo is used to unlock defences for someone else to score. Still, he didn't do too badly against Roma (several times).

Also, I wouldn't say Benzema and Ben Arfa are Lyons best two players, probably Benzema, but I'd say Kallstrom and Juninho are both better players (though less exciting) than Ben Arfa at the current moment in time (though Juninho is no spring chicken now).

The games are tonight?

ARSE....

Thought they were Wednesday :o

Gotta set my rebuild my Media Centre and set it up to record the United game.

Looking back at the first leg, I think that Benzema was the real threat purely down to how unpredictable he was. Juninho was good on the ball but very rarely hurt us like Kallstrom. I hope I dont have to eat these words but I think Lyons big chance of going through rested on the first leg

I don't see why so many people think Arsenal are going to win tonight. We have to beat the nototiously well-disciplined AC Milan defence. At home. With a half-strength team. In the middle of a bad run.

I can't wait.

If Arsenal play their game, they have a really good chance. I'm still adament we'd have beaten AC Milan comfortably last season if we didn't base our game around 4-5-1 and getting the ball to Ronaldo. It was silly, it's never worked for us and it was never going to work. If we'd played our 4-4-2 and gone for it our pace would have blown AC Milan apart.

If Arsenal do what they do in the league they have a hell of a chance. A pass gets there quicker than a dribble, so Arsenal just need to pass the ball about and wait for the gap.

I find it stranger that people are discussing whether Liverpool will go through or not when they're playing a Premier League game ;) :p

Bah, you noob, we played Wednesday a fortnight ago, so it's Tuesday this time :p.

Yeah I know that now :p

I just thought that this week was on Wednesday and the previous one was on Tuesday for some reason... even though I know it wasn't because of the talks we all had on here about Sky/ITV etc :o

Heyho... I'll just have to avoid all TV/Internet/Bars tonight until I watch the game.... fun!

ahh that'll be the one, i was thinking that normally the champions league supercedes the premiership in terms of fixture placement. makes much more sense now.

COYS.

Sad to say but I think Ramos has all but given up on doing anything other than staying clear of relegation this season and is totally focused on the UEFA. I guess it's the sensible thing to do as we've got all we're going to get from the league this year from the Carling Cup winners UEFA slot.

Hoping for a King and Woodgate pairing.

Not sure what you mean by Ramos has given up? You mean he doesn't care if we win or lose?

Players were injured and other players are being given a chance before the summer clearout that's all, trust me he wants to win every single game ;)

No, more that he will try his best to make sure that everyone is available for the UEFA cup games and not go all out to try to push up the table in vain.

IMO, it will be at least another 2 seasons before we can seriously start thinking about top 4 finishes. At least now we have ditched that "nearly men" tag.
