Stalker, havnt touched it since release, advice?

Yes, you have to switch to single-shot mode and be crouching to get any accuracy with those. Most of the early weapons are rubbish but the later weapons are very nice indeed.

Ah! I was crouching and firing one at a time, but not in single shot mode, I'll give that a go!

You can change the difficulty at any time mate.

Cool thanks! Although I did get quite far yesterday, past most of the bits that were causing me trouble!

Yeah i think it's 9 and 0 to switch between firing modes - single-shot mode does help accuracy, especially witht eh early weapons which are poor at even medium distance.

I managed to get a decent way on medium settings, but my machine was just too kaka for it. I'm going to give another spin after I get a new GPU. I loved the atmosphere and gun mechanics, but I was always loaded up with too much gear and guzzling those energy drinks to get anywhere at a decent speed. I'm a pacrat :)

The other option is to keep your weight under 50kg and equip some endurance artifacts, then you can run nearly forever. You soon realize you don't need masses of health, food, ammo, grenades and 3-4 guns in your backpack the whole time. The weight of your suit matters too.
 
Anyone know when Clear Sky is due btw? Just been looking around I've seen release dates of 1/04/08 which seems way too early (i.e. 10 days time), 25/04/08 and some as late as Q1 2009 :eek:

edit: Official site says Q1 2008. Wohoo! :) Maybe not 1/04 but April for sure then.

The only reason STALKER = FAIL is because of the lack of ammo, health and unrealistic re-spawn of enemies.

Basically in some areas its too realistic to life in others its too like a game loop. But basically the guys who made it took a great idea for a game and completely ruined it!
 
Prety much every enemy you kill has at least 60 rounds of ammo on them, usually more if they have an ak or simmalr, just always use the gun you will be fighting against.
