I want to go lower...

Handling and performance on a 1.6 golf? Are you joking?

Yes going to larger alloys still affects how a 1.6 Golf handles, not exactly the most difficult thing to grasp. So what it is a 1.6, doesn't mean that instantly the owner cannot care about how the car handles.

They do look a little small though, shame

And mine are too big :P

So you sprayed them? looks funky... but I would be embarrassed doing it to my Golf especially with my small brakes showing through the wheels! :D

My car seriously needs lowering... because of the wheels it looks like a 4x4... I guess I need to speak to Penski about this... "if it ent rubbin', it ain't dubbing" etc

You have thought Penski, with how much he harps on about how peoples cars are on stilts...but he doesn't even drive. So who knows?

You cant tell even if the tyres are totally flat on this car, i had a blowout and didnt notice at first. I check them more often now as it saps fuel economy, not that i get any anyway.

Anyway, back to the golf. Dont bother, it looks respectable in both, the lowering wont add anything to the looks. Save your money.

Painted them with caliper paint, just gives it a bit more detail :)

Yeah it does, I noticed that yesterday when I had the wheels off for their bi-annual wash n wax.

if you have that then you cant lower much more than 40mm anyway as the arb starts to interface with the driveshaft

youll need either adjustable drop links (that dont work) or better ARBs

V6 4mo ones are straight. eibach ones have a bigger loop

My guess is Toms Noble.

probably :(, mines probably a contender tho, better be or my scraped sump and broken underside would be for nothing :p

Why does that Rover have Linglong tyres?

I always assumed linglong was a made up generic substitute for "crappy", i didnt realise that they were a real brand :D

From that the obvious conclusion is that 17" would probably be the sweet spot for these then :D

Yup, but thought I would fill the arch up with 18" to save lowering it.... which didn't work :( so will have to lower it anyways...

Pic of when they first went on...
