Portal Ending...

I think every one who ever played that game will agree it changed the way they think about computer games. It was one of the best reveals ever. I liken it to the reveal in Fight Club.

I sat there just thinking OH MY GOD, when i was going into the fire and i thought it was the end of the game, then i noticed the panel on the wall and thought: should i go through there? am i meant to? is this part of their plan or have i seen something no one else has? No game has made me second guess myself that many times.

exactly, it makes you think of an alternative rather than most games that hold you hand and wipe your arse, and more so you actually enjoy the whole game rather most games where you slog away only to enjoy maybe a fraction of the game.

Thats exactly what i thought! :D

Was up there faffin about thinkin 'hahaha i got out of death, ive stalled the ending' before noticing i could go elsewhere! :P

I personally wasn't blown away by Portal like everyone else was, but yes it was still awesome :)
I got a little cheeky smile on my face when I escaped 'their' fire trap :D

Well they've announced they have plenty of ideas. Im just hoping it keeps its uniqueness and doesn't become a 'series' so to speak.

Yeah, i feel the same. It had a sort of 'tech demo' feel to it, and i think thats what made it quite special. You expected the game to end with the fire, and then when you discovered there was more to it...
If they turn it into a standard game it might lose some of the magic. But i have faith in Valve, they dont make rubbish games.

Ahhh i see! :) Thanks!

Yeah hope its not spoilt by new ideas... i like it for what it was... bring on the next NEW idea id say :)

I didn't think the ending was that amusing really =/

Yeah, the whole cake thing was ruined by the amount of idiots that think its oh so hilarious to make portal jokes at every oppertunity. For me the bit after escaping the fire and going through behind the offices etc was far better than the final fight against the computer.

Great game and I loved the ending. The best thing for me was I had read nothing about it and it all came as a surprise. Look forward to Portal 2. Hope they don't rush it out though. Has the potential to be one of the greats.

Being able to release that element of suprise and joy in a game- the feeling that the user has almost 'broken' the game plot etc. was just fantastic.

Made every player feel like they had discovered a secret area/hidden feature :D

I'm only just a little bit past the fiery pit of death... Not had much time to play anything lately. :(

I absolutely loved the small rooms behind the walls which had pictures of companion cubes, bloody handprints, or "the cake is a lie..." style scribblings...

"The enrichment centre reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and in fact, can not speak" :D
