Agreed, in fact I'd say they're past 'becoming' and are fully there. I can't think of a developer whose titles are more anticipated among serious gamers than Valve. The only one who comes close are ID and tbh that's probably more to do with their older games.

Some of the best moments in the game for me came from the voice that guides you through the test areas. I played portal all the way through in one night, i started about 2am, because of this when i heard the voice say "you will be baked, and then there will be cake" i was like: did that just happen or was that in my mind?

So many little thing about that game come together to make awesome.

There is a mod (actually it's just copying a few files) to get the portal gun to work in Half Life 2.

Valve games are the only recent games that I've really enjoyed.

Portal was absolutely amazing for what is was... Was it just me who felt that it had a bit of 'The Running Man' chucked in to it?
