Cheers.

I'm a bit confused, this is the first time I've ordered from Dell and used their Order Status tracker.

This is what mine says just now:-

So looking at that, does that mean my order when it says "Order on delivery" is out in a delivery van somewhere at the moment?.

Cool.

I'm like a kid at Christmas, sat here looking out the window waiting for a delivery van to drive down my street....lol.

Still no confirmation email from Dell. Ordered on the 3rd, said I'll get an email within 3-4 days. I've been refreshing the inbox every 5 mins today :)

Where did you order from m8?. The Outlet or direct from the Dell site?.

I had an email almost instantly after I ordered containing my "Internet Receipt".

Then about an hour later, the account manager emailed me my confirmation of order.

Might be an idea to give them a call?. Be prepared to be passed between call centre operators though, it all gets a bit frustrating!!!.

If you have any numbers for your account manager, I would try that first as it usually gets you through to the actual person processing your order, rather than end up having to explain to 3 different people over and over again what you are calling for.

Ordered from the outlet. I received an email with a "temporary web order reference number" saying I'll get another one in 3-4 days. And the laptop will be dispatched in 5 days from the order date.

So not really bothered about the final confirmation as long as they stick to the dispatch date.

Then the fun will being getting the screen replaced. It's a WSXGA and they all seem to be Samsung. Probably the reason my one was returned to Dell.

Don't worry too much. I ordered on the 3rd too - only got my formal confirmation email today.

For reference they estimate delivery as being on or before 14th March - next Friday. Hopefully that means 2 weeks at worst :)

CANT WAIT :D

Mine was the same, they said on or before the 14th of March.

It turned up at the door about an hour ago......woo-hoo!!! :D

So far, well chuffed with it.

How do you go about telling what make of screen you have?. Because I've read through this thread and a lot of folks seem to be saying that the screen can be "grainy"?. Mine looks fine to me. I upgraded mine to the 1440x900 from standard.

Just going through everything and setting it up now ( typing this from it at the moment ).

Got a load of stuff I need to install, Adobe CS3, CuteFTP etc.

I'm actually quite pleased to see that so far it doesn't look like its overburdened with that many useless "bloatware" programs that I will never use. Already binned McAfee Security Suite and a couple of other bits and bobs.

I think I'm going to like this laptop, after coming from an old P4 Latitude, this is like a racing car compared to it!!! :p

The other amazing thing that I find is that its on a par with my main desktop PC as far as performance goes ( almost ).

Looking forward to installing a recent game on it to see how it copes.

Will either stick STALKER on it tonight or wait till I get Assassins Creed and try that.

Out of interest, i took a few pics when the engineer came round yesterday - I will try and put them up too.

When you load the pics could you do one with the browser open full screen (F11) and the main forum page displayed. Just so I get an idea how much desktop space I can look forward too :)

Ooopps!!!

Nope, I just have the 1440x900 screen m8.

Looks fine to me though, desktop space wise, so I'm guessing your higher res will be great.

Dell are coming to get mine on Monday, decided that I couldn't put up with the rubbish screen.

I'm chaning direction totally and going to get a 12" screen, i'll stick to gaming on my desktop.

So is the samsung the worst screen then? I have the AUO and it seems fine to me.
Is there any pictures of the samsungs poor quality anywhere?

There's a big thread on notebookreview.com discussing the screen issue. There's a link a few pages back or it's on one of the first 3 pages in the Dell section on notebookreview.

Just noticed in your sig you have a 1440x900 display. The problem is only with the 1680x1050 screen as far as I'm aware.

This any good for a 5400rpm drive in a Dell M1530 running Windows XP SP2?

or is there something I can do to improve speed further?
