legal help with ebayer (piracy)

Both are illegal and stealing so if your gonna go out your way to get someone else in trouble for it then you had better be whiter than white.
Splitting hairs that one is worse than another is a very weak argument tbh!
As stated if your unhappy ask for a refund and if he says no and starts being a knob THEN threaten to grass him up, 99% of the time they will keep you happy.

You should change your name from 'Glass' too GRASS
No one likes a grass, get over it!
If your really unhappy ask the seller for a refund, no doubt he will be more than happy too give your money back.

Grow up.

It's not being a "grass" to report someone who has sold you fake goods under false pretences.

Re the op, I would
report him to Ebay (selling pirated/forged goods)
Report him to the police (already done by the sounds of it)
Trading Standards
The company that makes/distributes the software in the UK
FACT or whatever the software equivalent is.

why do you have a problem with people reporting software pirates?

You should get your money back from PayPal, I got sold a dodgy copy of XP Pro on there. I got a refund but it took a few months. I had to get an expert to say that it wasn’t a legit copy, I just got someone who worked in an IT dept to write a letter and it was good enough for PayPal.

Personally, I'd take it up with him and let him know you are fully aware that the software you have is pirated/copied and ask for a refund.
Otherwise you will take legal action (i.e. OFT, contact software houses etc).

Not saying you should turn a blind eye to it, but if I were in your shoes, getting my money back with the lowest effort possible is most favourable and of highest priority.
Once you get your money back you can always report him anyway :D

why do you have a problem with people reporting software pirates?

Because they are hypocrites!
Me grow up  lol I'm not the one telling tales because I was foolish enough to think a extremely obvious piece of pirate software was genuine!!

I could understand doing it if the seller refused a refund and was being an ahole about it but the OP went straight too the POLICE:rolleyes: Like they haven't got more important things too deal with..

But hey you guys keep downloading your warez and continue your crusade to rid this world of the evil scum that is software pirates

so you are accusing all these people of being software pirates without any shred of evidence?

personally if i got a refund i would have left it at that, but that is because i couldnt be bothered with the hassle, but i wouldnt criticise anyone that has strong feelings about piracy and reports someone selling the stuff

Think you need to read my post again!
I would bet my last dollar that 99% of the people posting have some amount of warez on their computers, no where did I say they were software pirates!!

im going on the basis that having warez makes people pirates as they they are using pirated software

i can 100% tell you that i dont have any pirate software on my pc

Hope all the GRASS's here don't have a single copyrighted picture, mp3, program ..etc ..etc on their computers otherwise not only are you scummy grass's your also hypocrites

Your missing the point.
If I'm paying for something, i don't want to pay for something that i could, effectively, download illegally myself. If he wanted to download his own illegal copy, he would have.

I don't really thing the seller is likely to give a refund, they are selling obviously pirated software...

OP: this software is fake, i want a refund
seller: no no, it genuine
OP: no its on a cheap DVD-R and i have to crack it
seller: no that how its meant to be. its a patch not a crack
OP: no that's complete rubbish. where you get it from
seller: i errrrr, errrrr, from a supplier
OP: who
Seller: errr, errrr, a supplier, how you know who them.
OP: you are talking rubbish, i want a refund. you charging me £40 for something that i could have Bit toranted
Seller:....
OP: you there....
Seller:.....
OP: you've hung up haven't you

@ C4EVA.

The guy has broken the law. Simple as.

Regardless of who may have pirated software or whatever in their life is totally irrelevant.

This guy is making money out of pirated software and he should get done for it.

You haven't actually come up with an argument other than "I bet you're all pirates". Way to go retard

Go condone crime somewhere else.

Man everyone is getting worked up about it :D
I think people are more interested in dobbing this person in, than the original poster getting his money back lol.

In the words of the great man himself, "what a plonker"! Why not just go and troll somewhere that actually gives a **** about your ****** up outlook?

Its because its NOT ON.

I'm all for giving this seller a pasting because he has fraudently sold software.
Its one thing to buy it from somebody knowing its a copy, its another thing to go to a computer fair with dozens of stalls selling such stuff but being ripped off is completely different.
The OP even said he could have downloaded it but needs this for his business which he wants to keep above board.

Trust me, nothing gets to these people, I know a guy who got fined 5 grand for remarketing copies of xp, thing is, he made in excess of 60 grand doing it.
And he owns a large reputable computer cleaning/ repair business.
