My New Car

Actually isnt 4k Teg money now (high miler obv)

Yep.

I thought he was going to buy a Focus, quite dissapointed actually:o no idea why he went with a 206 - i'm sure there were numerous posts saying not to.

No, but its hardly the "I'm going to buy a good car that will last" car that Phil said he was going to get next.

And its certainly not "a very nice car to drive".

Just to put things into perspective.

I got my Focus 51 (2002) a year ago

Focus 1.6
44,000
Climate Pack

for £3,700, no doubt you could have got a 2.0 of similar age now for that and I thought that was the way you were going.

Its hardly a heap is it ?

the point being its a tarted up 206, whats the point? it will have been owned by the type of person that thinks bolting an exhaust on, adding some huge wheels and putting a cage in gives him the fastest car around, so it will have been thrashed everywhere!

I dont get it, maybe im getting old :o

Actually you do have fair points..

Oh well he's happy with it... or maybe not now after reading all these posts.

Still it could be worse it could be a 106 !

Are you deliberately trying to be funny?

At least the 106 handles well, infact it was one of the best handling hatchback chassis of recent times. The 206... wasn't.

Well my ex had a 106 and it was god damn awful to drive. Mind you it didn't have power steering and even that tiny car felt like a tank ro drive around corners.

The interior of the 106 sucks. The 206 interior was comfy in the one I had (Quiksilver).

Looks ok but 'show cage' is a bucket load of fail.

I think Phil's car choices are forever destined to disappoint ocuk motors.

You must have arms like bamboo sticks. :p

Mine's fine without powersteering. I only feel it when parking, and even then it's not difficult.

Oh no!

Is that really any cheaper to insure than a starlet turbo (which I think you were looking at) once you have declared the lowering, wheels, back box, ahem, **show** cage etc? It really needs bigger brakes if the calipers are painted red as well.

I'm glad you like it, but you could have got a lot more than that for the cash. I'd back myself in my 115 bhp diseasal mondeo against that in a race.

Infact you could have got a very good classic shape impreza for £3k easily and had another k to put towards the insurance difference.

Not at all keen on the front end the way it is now, specially with the bodge job look on the logo, and the colour doesn't suit to me, black or blue would have been nicer.

In the end though, as you say (and said with the Astra :p) you're happy with it, so thats all that counts, but god, a 406 Coupe or 172 would have been much sexier french options!
