Surely that will now mean you are going to be incurring the expenses of running two cars? This means 2 lots of insurance, 2 lots of tax?

Which is why this one is offered with no MOT

yep but easy job and will source one later today :D

and will keep the AX off the road for the min and send tax back ill till fix

yes will be paying out a bit but if its too much then ill wait untill ive got a few years no claims built up

Fox has echoed my sentiments exactly. I know what it's like to be utterly skint, but that just means you need to spend what little money you have wisely, and I'm not sure the Volvo fits into this category.

Still, I hope it all works out ok.

me too i've got a few mot so that helps if its the sender then thats about £10 gauge probs £15 then off couse any thing else lol

but ive been given a small loan to cover me while my insureance company sort things out so am hopfull all will be ok

Don't worry it'll be fine :)

If not at least its only £200. I worried like mad after buying my Jeep off ebay and even now I'm waiting for it to do something beyond ecomical repair on me (like running out of petrol :D )

As for an AX folding, I was first to a scene where an AX had been hit by a SAAB. The steering wheel was touching the roof and the drivers face.

yea thats kinda whats put me off the AX ive seen some very nasty crash's and even at low speed they fold

but was a nice car and cheep to run

but fingers crossed ive not even seen the car in the flesh yet saw pic thought go on then and clicked buy it now

I've never done this before never and i've always told people beware of ebay cars but reading it i think they want a quick sale and it gone asap

and i want it asap :D

I know what it's like to be skint too, which is one reason why I bought my Volvo. But I wouldn't have bought it without an MOT or giving it a good once over, even at the price I pad.

It's actually been washed since then and looks relatively respectable, hehe.
I paid £150 with 8 months test, needed a tyre and a bulb for the next test. Mine is a 2.3 8v..... you'll probably find the 2.0 engine rather sluggish and they are not very "positive" to drive.

These tend to fail the MOT on the usual stuff - cracked flexi hoses, poor/imbalanced brake efficiency usually caused by sticky calipers, bush wear, leaking dampers.
They don't tend to fail on things like structural rust or emissions.

Forget the fuel gauge for now, get a ticket on it before anything else.

That looks like quite a big boot... Do you reackon you could fit a box in that is 3ft x 3ft x 2.5ft? I may need something like this for some huge speakers I'm building...

thats got the back seats down but yes its about 4 foot by 6 foot
that box would fit in my AX btw :D
I guess so, but I'll have 4 of them I need to lug around... Anyway, that looks like you could squeeze a lot in there, and then theres always the roof rack option!

EDIT: I'm guessing the boot would be able to take something 3 foot high?

Arh now you never said how many you had lol

yes volvo boot is about 3 foot high maybe a bit more am going off memory (old man had 3 on the past)

as for roof rack got one seating in my mum and dads garden beeen there for many years and will not root its ally and goes the lenth of the car

just to save you a bit of trouble with the fuel gauge.
the sender is integrated with the pickup pump in the tank. they wear out eventually, and you can't replace just the sender you need a whole new pump and sender unit which costs loads from volvo.
you can get one from a scrappy but chances are that will also be knackered, cos they all go bad after about 180k
it's possible to fix them yourself, but it's a bit of a faff. i just keep an eye on the trip meter, also my gauge works about 20% of the time, so i can get an idea of the fuel level every now and then.

if you want to know how to fix it look on this site.

Well just got too quotes for the bit

Volvo want £232
My local guy down the rd wants £117.50

All inc vat volvo cant get it untill next day my local parts man same day as long as i call before 1:30pm :D

But will put it thou a mot before buying one thou

I wouldn't spend £120 on a part to replace a fuel sender on a £200 car. Just brim the tank every 200 miles.

Indeed :)

I was lucky, when i bought my 740 for 100 quid, the fuel gauge also didnt work. it turned out to be the gauge at fault, and i got one from a scrappie for a fiver :D

good buy. nothing to go wrong on the 740s really. Mine has passed all its MOTs first time since ive had it so cant complain. its also on its 3rd le mans trip this year towing my caravan, so ive deffo had my moneys worth.
