Is the Q9450 really in stock on the 10th?

Theres no attraction with the q9300 other than the fact it will run cooler compared to the q6600.

I hope the yorkfields come in soon as i want to buy one with a new motherboard.

Bit harsh, as its proberbly not in their hands or control.

Even so, people pre-ordered on the basis of the pre-order ETA.
They calculated the cost, vs. performance, vs. time of delivery factor.
And they decided the Q9450 would be best.

And all of a sudden, the ETA was delayed, so they re-evaluate.
People have that right.

Nothing against OcUK, but Intel.

No offence to OcUK but this isn't the first time they have done this.
Claimed they will be the first to get something in, charge a premium for it and then end up being no earlier than any of the other major retailers.
With OcUK you've also got the fact they take the money straight away.
Not a major issue - but not only are you paying a premium for an item because they claim you'll be the first to get it, they are also earning interest on your money while you wait!

Over the years OcUK have occasionally managed to get the odd thing in a day or two early.
But I've really learnt that most retailers do get things around the same time - its anti-competative for any one retailer to be given earlier release dates than others.
So in 99% of cases you may just as well find the cheapest major retailer and order from there.

OcUK aren't to blame for delays in the manufacturing process, which has caused delays in them being released. Since we haven't seen a release date yet they might not even know themselves.

They also said "OcUK will be one of the first UK suppliers of this brand new technology", which they have been with a few things over the last 6 months from what I've seen. If you don't like the price or the fact they take the money straight away then wait until the prices come down, you pay a premium for brand new hardware. However I am glad I got my order in the first hour before the prices went up, paying £15 less and will hopefully be in the first batch they get :)

Having ordered from several etailers before they have been cheap, I'd rather have excellent customer support and pay a couple of quid more than pay less and wait 2 months for a replacement.

Exactly...

I canceled because ocuk didn't have the stock as expected. So therefore I'll look at other suppliers and go with the first that gets it. Whether that still ends up to be ocuk is another matter.

not much point cancelling, most places that even manage to get stock of the Q9xxx's will sell out almost instantly. OcUK had 8 Q9300's yesturday and they sold out within an hour. You will be waiting a while before there are good levels of stock. At least with pre-order you know you have 1 reserved and paid for when the stock comes in :)

Overclockers will be one of the first to get all the Q9xxx's Cpu's, but availabilty is very bad and they will be staggered e.g not all at once.

With a pre-order you have your order placed with a priority account and you have put yourself towards the top of the list.

Having seen what availabilty will be like for the next 8-10 weeks, i think those with pre-orders will definatley see a benefit.

definately agree there m8, i'll be keeping my pre-order until 19th of march, if it isn't in stock on the 19th then i'll cancel and order from elsewhere.

If you already have a pre-order in then you might aswell keep with it,pre-ordering now from another supplier will just see you going to the back of their list.

If you have the cash then pre-order from a couple of places and just cancel whichever when you get one.

Just this second spoke to Tom @ OcUK and he said they are getting 2500 on Monday 17th.

He also said that OcUK only had 8 (yes eight) delivered on the 10th.
