Clarkson may get points for talking on mobile...

If it's on a motorway as well, the other side doesn't look very wide. Doesn't look like you could fit 3 lanes between where that silver car is and the trees are on the other side.

That really really depends on how quickly the shutter speed was set and if you pan with the car or not.....

I totally understand that, I'm a semi-professional photographer, but there still seems to be something really odd about that being a photograph of a car doing 70mph. Can't quite put my finger on what it is

I agree. It doesn't seem right.
I'm yet to see a phone camera that can take a photo of someone running without being blurred, let alone moving at 70mph.

Whole thing smells fishy.

i cant take a still pic on my phone without it bluring.....its a samsung g600

quite random, but does the law say its illegal to just hold up a phone to your ear? He could say he was just holding it there to stop people recognizing him :D

Id be very interested to see just whay type of road that is. From the shot it would appear to have 3 lanes on this side. Yet room for just about one on the other side? and no clear signs of a central barrier. Admittedly the barrier maybe just below the line of the window but it just doesnt "look" right for a 3 lane each side motorway.

And if there is no reg number and no clear face shot then how the hell can they prove its clarkson anyway?!?

Cam on my D600 works fine.

Clarkson's mercedes is left-hand drive.
You sure?

I think the photo might just have been flipped. There seems to be a driver in the left-hand seat of the grey car ahead, there's no oppposite direction traffic beyond the far lane, and the whole "pic taken from the passenger seat" story would make more sense that way, as it would actually have been from the left side.

I also heard he was not only on a phone, he was also smoking some weed, downloading monkey porn on his PDA and kerb crawling. Will someone please think of the children.

As for space...there is loads of space between the silver car and the far hedge.

InvG

What room for a central barrier and 3 lanes and a hard shoulder? sure doesnt look like it.

it does make sure sense if the pic has been mirrored and taken from a car in the fast lane. But by all accounts his car IS left handed so that makes that impossible?

What an unfortunate photo - just as Clarkson was throwing his phone over his shoulder onto the rear passenger seats so that he definitely wouldn't be tempted to use it whilst driving..

Isn't whether he was moving or not a moot point? I thought it was illegal to use a mobile even with just the engine running?
