ForceWare 174.20 updates 9800GTX Performances!

It's probably higher voltage, nothing a BIOS mod can't fix ;)

I assume you're right, but 98GTX is an official voltage modded version with warranty and better cooler;)
By saving you a lot of efforts and risks, it probably worths the extra 50 to 70 quids. But less fun I'm sure:p

Your warranty would be void once you overclocked it anyway. :o

Lawl at 3D Mark 03 as well, should've put that in the title dude. Probably equates to 100 06 points or something, so typical increase from decent drivers. Sure as hell not impressed with this "next-gen." :D

[3DMark03 score has jumped up from 39k to 54k.
I also notice that 9800GTX is a super clockable card. It has been clocked to 900/1269(2540)/2250MHz (CORE/RAM/SHADER)
Scary~
You should look a little closer its been hard modded. And I got 850 from my G92-GTS at stock. All those drivers did was fix the low scores on a couple of benches, 05/06 remained the same. They're not all that remarkable, 2500+ memory helps. 03 is ok and 01 still looks low.

Many manufacturers actually keep silent on overclocking things if they are not encouraging:p They do honour the warranty even it says no in the document as soon as the card is not badly burnt. Because most of the users are overclocking these days. The card makers will lose the market if they strickly say no and probably they would have to come to the courts in UK quite oftenly:p

Anyway, if we are not talking about overclocking, the GTX is still 25/75/400MHz ish faster than GTS with much better RAM. That makes the card cooler and quieter. It still worths the extra money for those who haven't own the G92:p

How can you make your G92 GTS work at 850? With voltage mods?
But my source is not from the link you provided and it doesn't say anything about hard mods originally. I'll keep my fingers cross:p

Its the exact same clocks and pictures you quoted and thats been hard modded by VictorWang, its not even the stock cooler. And I already said the GTS was completely stock.

same mod as 88gts/gt.
500ohm vr,

900/1269mhz, shader=2250(actually 2268), 3Dmark01/03/05/06 test:

Most impressive GTS overclock I've seen is this one, noticed it a couple of months ago :D

I dunno, I'd have to call shens on that I think. I've seen a handful on LN2 around the 1150/1100 mark.

fornowagain, i think you're right. but the source i quoted from is mydriver.com
they did not mention about the mods.
anyway, i think you are extremely lucky to get the clock way up to 850. i've tested at least 30pcs of 88GTS from variety of brands, none of them can walk pass 760MHz mark. And I've seen the report about the limits of current G92 chips, either GT or GTS. It's 756MHz.

You might want to read the RMA T&Cs on some manufacturer sites mate. :)

My GTS can clock to ~ 775Mhz core, 1950Mhz shader and 2172Mhz memory :)

Quite a few of us managed in excess of 800+ when the cards first came out.

See for yourself > http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17814707

The same for the GT, a little VID tweak in the bios got a few to 775+, mine made it to just under 800 with no volt mods.

Out of topic, do you guys know where I can get that E3110 Xeon in UK? It's extremely popular in US because it's a server version of E8400.

It dosnt matter if it scores 1,000,000 3dmark points, 3dmark has lost its integrity and dosnt represent a cards performance anymore IMO.This card needs to be jugded on its DX10 performance. Crysis 1920x1200 4xaa = 33fps mininum or its not worth upgrading.

Do you get cards from nvidia for testing? and have you got the GX2 yet ?

Matey, don't quote me anything just in docs! I'm telling the facts in this business, in another word, pramatically. I'm a reseller and I know every bits of it. And pls do read my post before trying to be cleaver! I can't talk about this any further because it would harm the retailing business.

I know what you are talking about. But the definition of 'stable' might be different. Did yo try your card at 790MHz core on playing Crysis and Company of heros for more than 2 hours continuously? Did you use NV's stability test or ATI tool to find the artifacts for more than 1 hour? Passed 3DMark means nothing even with 100+ rounds.

Also, the limit I was talking about is for non-modded (inc. VID mods) G92, although I was only talking about everything I know and from my experience.

How would it hurt the retail business talking about overclocking:confused:and
dont you work for a review site?

No mate, I'm in retailing. Just need to write some reviews to our partner stores and encourage the sales. You know, many PC store sales staffs know nothing about new tech:p

As I said, if I discuss it further, many dodgy customers would know how to take advantage of the warranty and would try to RMA the overclocked-to-dead products to the retailers. I've seen many of them already, so I'd better stop talking:)

What do you mean, "its still worth the money"!?

Man, you sound like someone off gamefaqs arguing over the best game to buy or something. I've read loads of your posts and you seem to be well into your overclocking and think its a great laugh and your having a heck of a great time...

The point is, is it worth the money to the majority of people, we're not interested in what you think in terms of your own satisfaction. Just as you prolly don't care that I think xxxx is worth the money!

People like justification\sources for their assertions!

No offense but I'm wondering what planet you live on and if the they actually have money as a currency? or does everyone just hand out happy juice and we all live happily ever after?

You sound so much like the nerds in PC World trying to sell something its scary. Not meaning to be abusive at all but please mate try and be "normal". As in yourself :)
