Dog attack

I don't want to see your arse.

I can only guess you own one of said dogs (which in fairness I had never heard of but assumed were registerd dangerous). Anyway, blaming the breed seems perfectly acceptable for a registered dangerous dog.

Say no more then.

His dog should have been put down if it has bitten you and your dog as it obviously is dangerous. One of my mum's friends had to have her dog put down when he bit a runner (he was a huge softy but had a thing about males how were running).

Gilly, there isn't anything you can really do about it other than asking the other owner to contribute towards vets bills as his leaded dog attacked yours. He doesn't HAVE to do anything as Rocky was off the lead and wasn't under control. The police would only give the other owner a warning, he may not have pulled his dog off but he had him on the lead so it's the responsibility of other owners to control their dogs around his eg calling them away.
I hope he is ok, my sister's dogs play fight and occasionally do bite each other badly enough to cause a small cut but it heals quickly and they don't seem to be too bothered by it.

Gilly sorry to hear that, hope your dog is ok.

I would report it to the police, as whilst they may not take too much attention if it's a one off, they will log it and if/when the other dog is involved in another attack they will have it on record that a similar animal had been involved in a similar attack.

You fail to notice the rest of my post, "~J~".

No, simply don't see any point in what you said.

The breed isn't registered dangeous, so why blame it?

Gilly's mother hasn't confirmed it's a pitbull, only thought it was so until that has been resolved no one can say whether it's a dangeous dog or not?

Or am I missing something?

My point is that blaming the breed is acceptable if the breed is dangerous. I guess you are missing something.

Right, I apologise, you're right I didn't understand why you were saying.

But in that case, then yes I agree with what you're saying. :)

I agree. If I could have traced the owner, I would have reported it.

At the time, I just wanted to get my dog (and myself) out of there.

Hope that Rocky gets better quickly, you must be feeling quite miserable about the whole thing right now Gilly.

Btw some people need to understand that there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

Unfortunate, and the other owner should have better control/means of control over their dog. However in fairness your dog should have been on a lead, for it's own safety and for everybody else's.

thing is though the guy had his dog on a lead, Gillys mother did not, in the eyes of the law it will be his mother in the wrong

I don't have a dog now, but surely the owner of one should have it on a proper lead so that it can be controlled, or what might happen if it went for a child? I have seen well behaved dogs knock over toddlers by just being bouncy, so I hate to think what this dog might do in the future.

Your dog was off the lead. Not the other guy's fault at all.

i agree, not at all, we have a staffy, we dont let it off the lead at all as it dosnt get along with little children and dosnt like other dogs, but idiots round here do not take notice of the law and walk without leads (even on a road, not pointing at you gilly ;) ) and we cannot stop another dog coming towards us so we get ****** off normally.

law is to keep your dog on a lead, simple, especially in a public place !, i know many of people who are afraid of dogs, what about if it was you afraid of dogs and one came running at you! whether it was the nicest dog in the world or not.....

sorry about him though, apart from all that it would be pretty sad to see it, hope he recovers well.

Sorry to hear about your dog and hope it's ok, maybe the other guy was at fault for not watching the situation.

Now what I will say next isn't anything against your dog or your mum but just my experience.

I have to say though I get very annoyed when I walk my dog. He is a big German Shephard. I always keep him on the lead. No matter how much you think you dog is trained if it's off the lead you have no control over it. Unlike the guy whose dog attacked yours if I see another dog in the park off the lead I avoid the area. However having a dog run 300+ yards across the park to yours to run round an annoy is a pain. Especially when the owner is shouting for "Pippa come here" and not doing anything about it. I can shout till I'm blue in the face that if they don't grab their dog and it comes close enough it will get bitten.

Like the 2 <10 year old kids who asked me today "Does your dog bite?" - I replied all dogs bite. Nah they don't mister!

Don't worry about it, this always happens to Rocky. Just organise a rematch and you can be sure that Rocky will win, its very predictable ;)

Enough of the joking around, sorry to hear about that. I was in the park the other day and some big butch type dog kept running around me looking vicious and barking, not nice.

I can confirm the above. I was attacked by an Alsation that bit my ankles and arm. Its owner punched it with its metal chain lead to prevent it doing me further damage lol. I went to the police in the vain hope somebody else would have reported a similar incident with the same dog as this event occurred in the street. I was told if the animal attacked somebody more than twice then it has to be put down? I am sorry about your dog and thankfully the other animal did not harm your mother.

Sadly, it's your responsibility to keep your dog on a lead (this makes me a total hypocrite, as we let ours off the lead all the time, but we live in the country so there's less problems).

Sorry to hear about dog though.
