Now personally I think the 360 controller is the comfiest I've EVER used, and I've used a few.

But while this article hasn't changed my views at all, it's certainly opened my eyes on how actually poor it 'may' be.

What I can't understand (and the general opinion on here seems to be it's rock solid ) is why the person who wrote the article immediately disses the statement "It's not that bad. Mine works just fine"

No Swearing! K

Thoughts or am I a narrow minded fanboy?

(oh, it contains a couple of sweary words too) Then you already know it breaks the rules!

Kill joy!

360 controller is far better than the outdated PS one. This coming from someone who would only play on a PS 2 until I got my 360 :)

Edit: I don't use the D-pad so I'm probably quite lucky, sounds like that guy needs to get out more though ;)

Going back to the PS2 controller now just feels weird for me. The Xbox360 controller is the best one I have ever used in gaming. The N64 controller comes a close second mind.

I like the 360 controller out of all the ones I've previously used, however it could be better. The triggers take too long to press/depress which can be annoying on games I play, I also ideally would like to have my index finger on the RB/LB buttons and my middle finger on the triggers but this is not very comfortable.

Well it's not a perfect controller, but after a lot of use you get used to it. TBH I would argue that is the case for any controller.

Obviously the D-Pad is terrible (ask anyone who plays beat em ups, seriously!) and the controller seems a bit "big" for lack of a better word (but I guess that is relative to other controllers I have used).

no usage problems as such, and tbh, games that use D-Pad as the main control mechanism are thinner and thinner on the ground so the D-Pad becomes less of an issue.

I've heard people say the 360 D-pad is poor, but I've had several 360 pads and never had a problem with any of them, even playing beat-em-ups.

I actually find the PS style D-pad without any 'diagonal' corner pieces harder to use.

The only poor thing about the 360 controller is the D-Pad. Everything else suits me much better than the PS3 controller. Ergonomically the 360 controller is very easy to use, the PS3 controller has the analogue sticks in the wrong place and it makes it feel uncomfortable. Not sure what Playstation were thinking about with the triggers on the PS3 controller either.

We need a decent 3rd party controller combining the best of both to be honest.

The 360 pad is by far the best controller i've used but is let down by the d-pad, i've had numurous times when i need to push right/left on it but it registers as up/down :(

imo
360 pad for fps
ps3 pad for beat em ups and driving games

[wiimote for kids];)

*edit
im far happier with my ps3 pad since i clipped those daft looking triggers on
motorstorm is a joy to play now!

It "feels" worse in XBLA games (probably isn't in reality). I ended up using an Arcade Stick for arcade games, when I had one (Luminees is unplayable at high speeds with the D-Pad).

I used to think the PS2 pad was the best but since I have had my 360, I now pick up the PS2 pad and go 'URGH!'

Cant get it to load, can you paste it up? Without the swearies of course :D

Stupid article, clearly written by an MS hater. I've had a 360 since launch and i've NEVER used the d-pad for anything other than using the keyboard (before i got the lovely messenger pad) imo D-pads are outdated and redundant and are only left on gamepads for nostalgia sake. Even stuff like beat em ups are better with an arcade stick.

The XBox 360 pad is awesome. Hands down the best controller I have ever used, and will be a tough one to beat.

My only complaint is the D-Pad, which I hardly ever use so no big deal really.

Oh come on mate, does every constructive critisism that the 360 gets have to be from a "MS hater"?

I got one recently for my PC and the only problem with it is the fact that you can't adjust the dead zone on the default Windows drivers, so the slightest of taps on the analogue sticks may move your character/car in game.

This can be sorted out with the XBCD drivers, but personally I don't like them as it seems they don't have support in as many games.

Stuck with the default Windows drivers and have just put up the the dead zone. Most games do have dead zone adjustment these days, so it's not too bad.

Compared to the PS pads, im definitely with the crowd that says the 360 is much more comfier. Like others i dont use the d-pad on the 360 controller but when im playing on my mates PS3 i do use it so in that respect i would say the PS d-pad is better than the 360 one. But analog sticks wise...the 360- completely and utterly blows it out of the water.

Y'see I HATE fighting games, so I'm out of that one. But for COD4, Burnout:Paradise and every other game I've had zero issues at all. Even using the texting on it has been as responsive as hell.
