Xbox360 Controller - The Best or big failure?

I don't really care, I will get on fine with any controller once I've got used to it, there are things I prefer about the 360 controller and things I prefer about the PS3 controller, neither of them is a perfect controller.

Not forgetting the serrated edge analog stick = sore thumb. It wasnt too bad back then would probably avoid now though.

I had my Nintendo 64 from launch and never had a problem for about 2 years with a sore thumb, then randomly one day it caused my thumb to blister! I was gutted as I couldn't play it for about a week, after that it never did it again and it was a joypad I'd used the whole time. Just seemed a little bizarre.

Whoever says that the Nintendo 64 pad was good has earned my eternal disrespect.
I mean... what the hell - one thumbstick in the middle of the pad, stuck out like some sort of .... And then there's weird button placements... not to mention the fugly colour scheme.

You have earned my eternal disrespect, N64 controller was great and well ahead of its time. the original xbox controller was fail as it was huge and didnt feel right

I have 2 friends who always make a dash for the original controllers leaving me with the spare S-Controller.

Got to be the Cube controller for me, it just fits my hands perfectly. Never been able to stand the PS pads, I just find they are just too uncomfortable for prolonged playing.

The 360 pad is good for FPS games and others BUT FAILS miserably when it comes to a good old fashion beat 'em up.... Though the 360 does feel a little more confortable and is slightly better for a typical game needing only the analogue sticks, the PS3 pad is a good all rounder. Making it my choice between the two.. IMHO

Nope, what I said is right.

totally, the placement of the 'C' and 'Z' (black and white) buttons was so mch better on them, what ever did happened to having six buttons on the faces of controllers. Would much enjoy having them aswell as the bumper buttons.

I agree. Six face buttons work very well for a lot of games.

Well, it really comes down to the PS3 pad vs the Xbox, don't think Wii should come into this.

I prefer the Xbox pad, mainly because it's just that much better for FPS games.

I do prefer fighting games on the PS3 pad though...DMC4 included, must have been crap using the bumpers, rather than L1/R2. (which are right next to the triggers)

Ah that massively popular genre that floods the market with games ;).
It's been discussed that the Xbox360 struggles with beat-em-ups, but as there are only about 2 or 3 a year then it's not too bad, plus, anyone who is serious about beat-em-ups shouldn't be using a pad.

The bumpers are right next to the triggers though? My fingers go over the bumper buttons and on to the triggers, I can press all 4 shoulder buttons at ones with 2 fingers if I want, so using them is easy.

I feel the Gamecube pad is one of the best, feels good in the hand never caused and aches or anything. Only down side in the stupid clicking shoulder buttons. Ever played say Smash Bros at mid night and not try keep everyone awake.

PS2 pads really kill my thumb after a bit of Street Fighter.

Depends on the pad, I love my ASCII Fighting Pad for 2d fighters.

Hah I remember being freaked out by the Xbox controller when I saw it had 6 buttons on the right side. I'm glad they put them back in their rightful place (the shoulders) for the 360.

For Halo and Halo 2 the Duke controller was the business. You could kill a man with that controller. Was built like a house. S controller was nasty, too small and cramped.

360 controller is the best for me. Only nag I have is the grey on the black version. Yukky
