Xbox360 Controller - The Best or big failure?

If you think the 360 controller is bad have you ever tried playing a PSP? Your fingers go numb after a few minutes. Sony couldn't have come up with a less ergonomic design if they had tried.

Aye, it's awful to use :( Shame as it looks amazing to look at visually, the controlls suck ass big time. Was looking forward to playing Pro Evo, GTA etc etc on the plane last year but ended up watching films on it as the controls were too awkward. I'll have to buy the add-on to plug a PS controller into it for the next USA trip this year :D

Another good point, I LOVE how light my PS3 controller is, although my hands never actually ache from holding the 360 pad, it's a nice change going to the PS one.

Weird im the reverse, PS3 pad feels a bit cheap to me because its so light. I think 360 is a good weight, the original xbox, now that was too heavy :p

Did nanoman write that article?

I used to like the original PS controller, then the PS3 comes along and they keep the same design, i like having the analogue where my thumb fits best, which is why ergonomically its a better controller. however the 360 controllers D pad is a little tacky and feels and handles like a last minute adjustment. i cant even compare it to the Wii mote as thats in a differant league.

but in all fairness, the 360 controller is good. i think their will be better designs to come with more console releases. Keyboard and mouse reigns supreme.

Best controller out there imo its the great for racing and fps games
just bought the play and charge kit, great peice of wire should have bought it sooner

I would rate the Gamecube pad above anything else, they were excellent... then the 360.

same - it was the best yet.

The 360 pad hurts my hands when I run on CoD4. To people who dont know that control its to push in the left stick, while using it for controlling your man, and having to have all other fingers poised....it isn't comfortable.

360 pad is a really good pad, its class for fps but then its also crap for beat em ups. ps3 pad is the opposite, crap fps but good for beat em ups.

Don't like the D-pad on 360 at all, I find it annoying / not responsive / inaccurate in game.

But like many have said, more and more games are 1st person shooter nowadays so the analog stick is more frequently used and the PS stick is seriously poor.

The amount of punishment my wireless has taken over the years its a miracle its still working.

But I've just had to buy a new one recently since the right analogue stick is fighting against me while trying to look around in any FPS (most noticeable in Halo, dont really notice it in CoD4 though). So if I try to look to the right it just doesnt respond like it should.

I'm not knocking it though since it has taken a right beating and is still working to a certain extent :p Best pad I've ever used hands down.

Whoever says that the Nintendo 64 pad was good has earned my eternal disrespect.
I mean... what the hell - one thumbstick in the middle of the pad, stuck out like some sort of .... And then there's weird button placements... not to mention the fugly colour scheme.

The whole argument is the DPad, not the controller itself. I believe the thread title is somewhat miss leading.

Then that is fair enough. I've said time and again that the Xbox360 has one of the worst d-pads ever, but I've also posted large paragraphs on why it's not such an issue when playing the majority of games.

Also, on a side note, my mate bought an Xbox360 3 weeks ago and I used his D-Pad when sending a message and it's so much more responsive and accurate than all the other ones I've used.

^ totally true.

For sure, totally agree with you on the DPad thing. I can't say I think it's particularly good but on the flip side I don't think I play any games that use it bar a few side uses.

For that matter, I don't think I've seen any games on the 360 that offer your main control around the DPad... certainly none that I can instantly remember anyway.

I wonder if this is this the case with Elite's and the new 360's with built in HDMI ports? Perhaps the new ones have slightly different gamepads with tweaked DPads?
