2008 Malaysian GP - Race 2/18

Considering how much faster they are now i think its a little unfair.

Faster, yes. But in much sturdier cars with much less impending doom looking over their shoulders.

Even so you only need go back to Senna to find the exact situation you are after. I remember him racing and seeing some steward do something.. not only did he notice this.. he remembered the steward after the race/session.. mental!

Oh, well....only need to go back over a bloody decade to find a decent multi-tasker then :D

I think thats a litte unfair. Its not the driver's fault that a lot of the decisions have been taken away from him and the team now monitor everything allowing the driver to put 100% of their effort/concentration on driving the car.

I agree that Kimi should've kept an eye on the fuel guage. That really is a schoolboy error.

Bah, it was like he was still here yesterday to me! Even though im only 21.. and he was the first F1 driver i remember..

Do F1 cars actually have a fuel gauge?

They might not. I'd hope that they have a "low fuel" warning light or similar though, even if they don't have a fancy display with "amount of fuel" and "range to empty" on it.

I know what you mean. I'm not much older than you, but I can still remember watching races from the late '80s onwards.

Surely he would be told how many laps he was good for before he went out and the mechanics would keep an eye on the fuel level. Probably just a **** up by someone not paying attention as it's practice or an incorrect fuel level estimate.

Ferrari need to improve their one lap performance hence low fuel

So why didn't they do a Messiah™ and send their boys out on the softer tyres as well?

I could be wrong, but since ITV made such a mention of The Messiah™ bolting on softer rubber I'd assume that his main rivals weren't on those same tyres. The gap ended up at 0.151sec, by the way - are those soft tyres worth that little, or do Ferrari still possibly have something in reserve?

Someone slipped something in your drink? Your recent posts aren't up to your normal quality. Usually you'd have made some witty remark involving referring to the Ferraris as donkeys.

Yep. Hamilton is establishing himself as the main man.

If he was going to take MS's place, then he needed to this. Everything is on course for him to become the greatest F1 driver ever.

Finally, the Brits will have a sportsman who is at the top of his game and not some playboy/womaniser/underdog who gets laid a lot but struggles to finish in the top 10 :p

EDIT: Now thinking about it. The nickname Messiah, couldnt be more apt. Its almost as if he was born to dominate F1.

JRS - Why do you continue to watch and get involved in Formula 1 when clearly so much about it annoys you?

I'm just curious is all :). Your previous threads on NASCAR sparked my interest, and as such I've watched every single race this season so far, but I would just think that if I didn't like so much about a sport, I wouldn't bother with it.

Because F1 is the pinnacle of motor sport and he knows it.

Plus, he knows that he is in a privileged position to be watching the best driver ever to race in F1, race. He'll tell his grand kids, "I was there when Hamilton won 8 races in a row." ;)
