The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Dam... Where was the heroes symbol that keeps cropping up on the program. That was at one of the stations in Zimse I think..
Pretty cool

Time to go delivering and filling up the market with quality produce.

Right, what is the quickest way to make good money in this game. At the moment I'm stuck on 2 million ISK +/-. That's been gained by doing Agent missions and also buying a Hoarder, kitting it out with extra storage and mining Massive Scordite to refine and sell.

I need to make around the 7 million mark pretty quickly to purchase and kit out a Stabber, any ideas? My only 'fighting' ship is a Rifter with 200mm AC's and Missiles.

Pirate/ rat in low sec
Mine ice
play the market.
That's about it really

Or do as you are and keep slogging away at the missions like me.
Then when bored, find a good system with some decent belts in (complexes) and whore them for a bit while easing the boredom of continuous mission running.
I'm on the cusp of LVL 4 missions now but skilling up regen and tanking skills to survive it better.
I've never mined anything that you'd consider worthwhile, and I've only ever gone into low sec to collect something cheap... and nearly got gate camped. lol

Just sold off a bunch of moon mins I got after blowning up about 20 different silos at three different offlined pos in lowsec, total take was 920 million, in about 2 hours in my ishtar :D

I've now broken the 2 billion isk barrier, and have to decide whether I'm going to buy carrier/capital related skillbooks for the alt (1bill in skills just to get the alt skilled in the carrier :( and then another bill and a bit to get the carrier and fittings) or pvp comfortably for the next several months without having to worry about isk.

Hi everyone,

Just want to ask a few questions about moving on to level 2 missions? What sorts of requirements are needed? As I feel I've run a lot of missions for my agent. I got an effective standing to 7. something with one agent, and waiting for the level 2 agent in the same station to become available..

I then switched to another agent with a better quality rating, -5 instead of -11. I'm up to 7. something again with this agent. But still no sign of a level 2 agent. I seem to be getting missions via eve mail a bit more frequently now. If I do enuff of these missons via eve mail will I get a referral to a lvl2 agent?

I'm training social now, aswell to try and get me to level 2. Its getting boring and way too easy doing level ones in my caracal. I dont even bother flying around some missions, I just sit and target.

Another question is, since I realise a navy raven is along way away especially if I dont get further up the mission levels.. Whats the benefit of flying a hawk/harpy or those ships which are basically beefed up frigates over my caracal? Ok it flies faster, but it lacks a lot of shield and armour?? My edumucated guess would be flying higher level missions where jumps gates are ship class specific:confused:

Sorry if this is a bit long..

Haven't done missions in an absolute age, but I'll try and help.

I'm pretty sure you must be eligible to do lvl 2 missions with standing of 7.
Standing (to progess on lvl missions) is with the corporation of the agent, and not the agent.

In the station of the agent, in the top right should be the logo of the corp from that agent. Click the "i" info icon and you should see the corp's details. Then select the agents tab, and open up all the windows containing different type agents (surveillance/internal security etc.) It will show agents available to you, so you can go and find one to do.

In your present state, you might be able to use some lower quality lvl 2 agents as opposed to perhaps this higher quality lvl 2 agent in the same station. (Are you with spacelane patrol btw?)

The missions you receive by evemail are probably storyline missions which have a greater standing bonus to the faction/corporation, so worth doing if you want to progress. They appear after completing 9 or 10 normal missions.

Caracal should be fine for level 2 missions, just make sure you check your fittings with people in your corp (or here), so you make the most of your ship's potential (dont armor tank it or fit lasers to it :P)

Hawk/Harpy tank better with resistance bonuses, move quicker, track better etc. They are great for popping frigates/cruisers, but obviously take a lot longer to train for than a cruiser. They would be absolutely fine in any lvl 1 or lvl 2 mission and could probably do some of the lvl 3s (some have web towers which will muck you up as you rely on some speed to avoid damage).

Great thanks for the info Ice Globe.

I might not have looked properly, but aren't the agents in the same station usually the same corporation? Because the two stations I've been using as a base Perimiter II and Niyabainen 19, they are both Caldari navy, so I took it that when I reached at certain standing, the 'not available' level 2 agent would just become available..?

Dont know how it happened, but for some reason I've not been playing on the premium graphics, different shortcut I guess..I thought the merlin looked pretty cool, but now seeing the hawk/harpy on premium, looks sweet. Didnt realise they actually looked different too.:D 3.5 million to buy the skill book though..

Not in a corp atm, after leaving wow, I'd wanted some casual gaming for the the time being.

My caracal is kitted out with 5 heavy missile launchers, shield booster/hardener/recharger. T1 T2 is which tech level right? And a cold arc ject afterburner..Which when I think about it, doesnt really boost that much, does on the condor though:D

What equipment should I be putting into the low slots? And upgrade hardpoints?

Edit: Spacelance patrol? Probably not..

No wonder, if you read the description of it, it says its a frigate size module.
You want to fit a Y-S Hydrocarbon AB instead for a cruiser.

Yes, agents in the same station are from the same corp. But if you follow my advice you might be able to find a lower quality agent of level 2 status to work for. Then you will get standing faster than lvl 1 missions and be able to use the level 2 agent in the same system after a short while.

Upgrade hardpoints are rigs, which give your ship a bonus, but you won't be affording those for a while. Eg. Capacitor Control Circuit I, will give you more cap regen on your ship. But they cost a lot of money for a new player.

I don't fly caldari, but for low slots I would say use Ballistic control units for more damage, or power diagnostic systems for more cap regen and shield regen. Have a look on the Eve Online forums in the ships/setups section for setups.

Lol, thats probably a good point..:D Theres a lot of info to take in EvE, thats my excuse:p..

Thanks again for the help.. Hopefully be doing some level 2 missions when I get home.

Just installing the trial of this. Have i doomed my free time? :D

You might have!

I installed the trial, now I find myself sitting at work wondering if a particular skill training as finished and what do I need to start next. That said though, I've only been playing for about a month myself and am currently doing nothing more than cruising around in my new Stabber trying to raise some money.
