Awful Covers

Scissor sisters - Comfortably numb.

When I saw this thread I instantly thought of this and was about to post it. I heard it for the first and, thankfully, only time a few days ago while idly flicking through the music channels. I literally sat there staring at the TV with my mouth open. I can't believe they would allow such talentless crap to murder a timeless classic like Comfortably Numb.

I hate it, can you tell? :p

I'd rate Orgy's cover of Blue Monday high on the list of good covers. Cracking track, even though it's not very different, it just works, very well.

Ahem....

The original is bad enough, but this has to be some sort of world record, in badness.

i agree im into a bit of industrial goth myself and like you im a big nin fan, orgy - blue monday, awesome tune. Linkin park's cover of wish wasnt too bad but it wasnt nin and they missed bits out, not in the lyrics but in the music itself....

Im not really sure what the worst is. The best covers come from those that try to twist the original. Take Alien Ant Farm's cover of Jackson's Smooth Criminal. Iron Maiden did a recent cover of Focus's Hocus Pocus, didnt really change the sound but did a really good job on it.

Iron Maidens Massacre-isation of the Mighty Skyhooks

Women In Uniform

Suzi Quatro's version of Stevie Wrights Evie ( and I'm a fan of SQ)

Stevie's groundbreaking debut solo single “Evie (Parts I, II and III)” is a genuine rock epic, clocking in at 11 minutes, and by all means seemed an unlikely hit. Released in May 1974, “Evie” shot to the top of charts, peaking at number two nationally during July. The Hard Road album also peaked at number five nationally. It was released on Atlantic in the USA and Polydor in the U.K. and made a strong impression overseas. Suzi Quatro later covered “Evie”, and Rod Stewart included a version of “Hard Road” on his Smiler album.

The McCoy (albeit he's getting old) Also Audio is low.....
Evie Part 1

Evie Parts 2 and 3

And Suzi Quatro's Rendition .....

Ok... After watching that it's actually pretty damn good cover.... Scratch that from the list !!
