3d mark 06

My friend's machine could just manage to break 10K mark with his E2180 overclocked to 3.3Ghz and slightly clocked 3850 pro, it's the 256mb version though.

That score looks a bit low but probably about right if that X2 is at stock.

OK, thanks guys - I thought it might be low - it was running at 670/830 so I will try over clocking it a bit and post back

cpu is only a 3800x2 stock

I had a 256mb 3850 and an e2180. On 3dmark06 it would score 7500 with the e2180 at stock (2.0ghz) and ~10,400 clocked to 3.2ghz with a moderate overclock on the the 3850

I have overclocked the gpu as below and got 100 more 3dmark06 points - yipeeeeeeeeeee! Now 7410!

Yes, overclock CPU through bios.

And I do have heatsinks on my vRAM, but I don;t think they do very much. If your card comes with Samsung chips (powercolor cards come with) you should be able to get to 1050-1100mhz....

Can some one run the FEAR performance test on 1600x1200 with everything on MAX (except soft shadows) with a 3850 pro 512mb but with better CPUs so I can see what possible bottleneck there is?

My result is below:

s5fvv8.jpg

Can't do 1600x1200, but I can do 1680x1050.

Specs:
-E6300 @ 2.8ghz
-2gb DDR2 800mhz 4,4,4,12
-Windows Server 2008, Catalyst 8.3 Drivers
-3850pro 512mb

--no soft shadows as you specified

Run1: Max details & 4xFSAA: GPU 710/1658 -------Run2: Max details no AA: GPU 710/1658---------Run3: Max details & 4xFSAA: GPU 777/2198

Thanks a lot for that gurusan.

I used 4xFSAA in my test above and it looks very similar to your test at my gpu clocks (710/1658)

so I don't think the cpu is bottlenecking at this resolution (but the story might be different at a lower res...)

I would like to do this test with unreal 3 as that I guess is more cpu demanding than FEAR
