New PS3 2.2 Update now Live !!!!

Hmm installed no visual differences i noticed guess its all changed somewhere. :)

Bluray profile update and Dix X increase i read in the notes though.

Well after a bit of a play around I kind of feel deflated now :(, I think I hyped the update up a bit much in my mind lol, the remote audio control is pretty good, you can now go into the 'Remote Play' options on the ps3's xmb and stipulate whether you want the audio coming out of you PSP or PS3 during remote play, the browser also feels quite a bit nippier.

Youtube always worked, but the playback framerate was low and for me, every video would lose sync a few minutes in.

Havent tried it since the update though.

Great update.

Not just has it fixed divx > 2gb, I had a handfull of Divx/XviD files here that didn't work before.

I've just tried them again, streaming from my server, and all but one worked... and to be fair, I think there may be something wrong with that file, as my standalone DivX/DVD player can't play it either (but the PC can)

Also, my own home made XviD files, never worked on the PS3 before, unless I copied them to the internal HDD. They do now.

So much better, a lot better compatibility with XviD files at least :)

V1N.

EDIT: I've noticed that the ones that gave me trouble before, that wouldn't play at all, take slightly longer to start up than the other files, but then play fine. Bringing up the info screen, they're identified as MPEG-4, rather than DivX (these are XviD files I'm talking about) anyway, great, just flicked through loads of XviDs on my server, and all play except that one file I mentioned before.. I'm delighted :)

Good stuff :)

Using TVersity yes its straight forward.

If you want to use Media Player to do so you will need to look up how to hack the registry for media player to see MP4 files.

T.

The Media Player hack is easy, it's just a .reg file that you double click, job done... it can stream .mp4 files.

I've uploaded it to rapidshare

http://rapidshare.com/files/102228766/v4-WMP11-MP4.reg.html

Can confirm it's 100% safe, just a 5k registry key, that makes media player library add MP4 files, and allow them to be streamed to the PS3.

I've tried it on my Vista Ultimate x64 system, and an XP 32bit system.

Wow, I totally didn't know about that!
Ta! :D

I'm suprised no-one's mentioned about the blu-ray feature about being able to now start off from where you left off, if you turn off the movie half way through...

Most AV forums have been complaining about this.. and quite rightly so..

But thanks Sony cos you fixed it !!!
