to be fair to him he's hardly inspired us onwards over the last year. he's returning from injury, his forms not there currently. other people deserve a shot.

can't think of anything rio's done off field to not deserve a shot in say the last 2 or so years?
 
Who else besides Gerrard and Terry would people have then? Who plays for their team every week barking orders around and keeping the team in shape?

He's been quietly getting on with his business this season and has matured a lot over the last few years. Terry is probably the best captain out of the three currently being touted. Gerrard has very rarely raised his game to inspire those around him when his nation has required it.

Maybe Capello has Terry as 1st choice and this roatation is for who should be vice captain. Given that we only have friendlies between now and September, surely these friendlies are the best opportunity for any experiment.

At least by September we will have an idea who Capello thinks his best squad is bar a few exceptions. They can then concentrate on working together over the two years of qualification. Remeber that Capello has a track record of picking a team on what works best together and not always the best 11 players. Good on him for trying something new not sticking with the same old routine

There are quite a few black players in the England squad aren't there? I wonder how they feel about having a racist as a captain...but then again it might not be true like half the crap about Rio. Some would say it's slander unless proven.

Not sure what you mean by that. The only thing I remember being reported about Terry is one night of drunkenness when he went home with his bird! Ferdinand has had a fair few things reported against him. Much higher profile things.
