BREAKING NEWS ALERT! Antarctica gone down to the pub

Just so long as it doesn't float by here with a pack of angry polar bears on, I don't mind.

Still, if it does and there are some bears aboard, they'll probably be offered citizenship and be forced into acceptance by society.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. There are no polar bears in Antarctica :)

Exactly.

If they gave it in a percentage, then no one would bat and eye lid.

I think this is really a very silly way to look at it. The percentage shouldn't matter, the fact is we're losing it. How big does it need to be before people say "oh hold on a min...now we're *******"

Apparently a chunk of the Antartic Peninsula the size of the Isle of Man has dropped off into the ocean...

time to start stocking up on tinned food....

You do know that the ice on the edge of Antarctica has been melting for a while now and the ice inland has been getting progressively thicker?

Climate Change is happening as it has for the last few billion years. The Earth has so far to date had three different atmospheres.

Here's a big  to the Environmentalists who really don't understand what the **** they are talking about.

So you're saying a ship is not as dense as water? Do you know what buoyancy is?

right **** I did right the chemical explanation for this but no i can't be arsed go get a can of something or a bottle and fill it to the brim with water and put the lid on stick it in the freezer, come back and tell us if it has split or been stretched, or if the ice takes up more room than the water.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice

An unusual property of ice frozen at a pressure of one atmosphere is that the solid is some 8% less dense than liquid water. Water is the only known non-metallic substance to expand when it freezes. Ice has a density of 0.9167 g/cm³ at 0 °C, whereas water has a density of 0.9998 g/cm³ at the same temperature.

Pay more attention in primary school dude.

I didn't see you living through them.

oh and yes a ship is less dense than water.
A ship floats because although it is made of steel, which is more dense than water, it encloses a volume of air and the resulting shape has an average density less than that of the water.

Do you know what buoyancy is?
