I'll keep an eye out for a Blue Fiesta. Cant be many around.

but then so do you... I just brought one, and now it seems like everyone has one :p

it is kinda worthless though. No one with any sense will be driving that car around with the same plates, as theres sensors at almost every petrol garage now, and main road that would pick it up and alert police to the area it is in.

Its most likely Garaged, somewhere within 20miles of you as they would have wanted to hide it fast... As i said, it wouldnt supprise me if its ALREADY being sold as parts on Ebay, or Exported somewhere else.

My colleague just showed me this on ZSOC. Interstellarforumness. It's sad they can just get lifted like this :(

Just be glad they don't come in your house and demand your keys like many CTR owners have faced.

I am sure there was a post on here a while back where the owner of a Astra put a post up to say his car had been nicked, got the same flaming saying it pointless but someone spotted it had been left at the end of there street and the guy got the car back. Although personally if my car was nicked I wouldn't want it back.

Can i ask if you've even informed your insurance company that it's been stolen? If not, you really really should. Even if you dont want to claim, you need to tell them that you don't have it. Just say "I have a police incident number and investigations are ongoing, i want to suspend any claims until further notice". (although i'm going with the suggestions that you should just claim for it. 2 years NCB (may differ between insurers) is a small price to pay for a replacement car (that you know will be mechanically and aesthetically sound, unlike if you get yours back).

Yep Insurance and Police have been informed. I know its totally out of my hands and theres not much I can do now, just hope it gets sorted out really quickly.

Anyone remember that thread on another forum where a car was actually found when a poster said his car had been stolen with details?

To be honest no-one should be flaming or critising the OP, to post a thread like this not against the rules and is not hurting anyone.

I live in the South East and I shall keep an eye out!

Good luck

A copper had a word with my mate's boss about this regarding his X5. Apparently they are hot targets for this kind of theft too. Must be damn scary.

I've always though of trackers as being a waste of money and "it'll never happen to me, its only a fiesta". Definately learnt a big lesson from this!

Trackers are a waste of money if you ask me. I've got one on my Z4 but I'm not paying the subscription for it because quite simply I could easily get another Z4 if it got stolen, it's not exactly a rare car. It would only reduce my insurance by 50 quid or something stupid so it really isn't worth it.

The fact its gone without the keys is worrying - means none of us are really safe :(

Tbh, few cars are stolen with the keys.

Yes, modern vehicles have immobilizers etc but,to a thief with the right kit, this is hardly a problem.

I hope the OP finds his motor, but, I'd be on to the insurance if I were him.

You're probably right that in a car it isn't of use. my dad has them in his men's vans, he's had 2 stolen and returned, with tools, thanks to the trackers.

lol @ those mocking this, I find it more funny when it reverses and happens to them and they have a moan about it!

Has anyone here actually had their car stolen and can tell me how long it could take for the insurance company to decide to pay out?

If its gone, its gone - I can deal with that. Its the amount of problems its going to cause through no fault of my own.

Doesnt seem like you can own anything nice these days!

Where you can, get no claims protection so your premium should not change.

Unfortunatly you have been selected to be a victim, that feeling of not having anything nice will stick around for a while. The fact the car value is not huge is probably another blow as well.

Depending on how your insurer is they usually allow something like 7 to 14 days for it to be found then issue a payout. Depending also on the car value they usually send someone out to have a look and see where the incident took place before making a decision.

You will be inconvenienced, do you have a courtesy car included on your insurance? At least that is something.

If it is found and the damage is repairable then they can do that or if it is severly damaged and not worth it you can negotiate the pay out.

If it is found and you want it repaired try and get a good reputable repair place through your insurer, the last thing you want is for it to be stolen again while being repaired (this has happened to this most highest security places!).

Its all fully comp through Adrian Flux with a company called Trinity Lane. Im hoping it will be quite quick but I dont know if I should be expecting days, weeks, months or what.

A tracker may have been useful, though a good one would cost about £699 whereas Gap Insurance is something like £300. Seen as your car does not require a tracker to be insured I would have taken gap insurance.

Just sit tight and be grateful it was not at gunpoint or any loved ones getting hurt :)

Not a nice feeling at all. Hope you get you carr back, as for the scrotes that stole it, they will probably just a get a slap on the wrist. I wish you all the best and keep us updated!

Actually, most modern cars are stolen in hanoi style burglaries, (for the more upmarket cars anyway)

@ OP, Your car is either in warehouse or on copied plates, if its found it will be by accident or coincidence

I just got off of the phone from the insurance company. They basically arent going to do anything until the car has been missing for 6 weeks!! All I can do is sit and wait to see if the car is found and I'll only get a courtesy car if it is recovered and in for repairs!

I dont think it really can get much worse now. I would really rather it be found burnt out somewhere soon rather than wait weeks for them to decide to pay out.

What about a ground anchor like those fancy pants motorbikes make use of?
I hope the insurers pay out as expected, that GAP thing is useful I hear, otherwise do you not have to argue over "oh but mine was in great condition, and look at this one on the interweb that is worth X" and then they say "yeah, we'll give you x/2"

Just read your above post. That's crap! 6 weeks, and they don't supply a car? I hate motor insurance.

Can you not get a hire car and claim that back off the insurers or something?
