Mondeo Ghia X 2.5 V6

I'd pass if I were you. Firstly, nasty colour. Secondly it seems like you are trying to quickly make your mind up about a make/model to get one specific example. OK maybe if it was something rare or a one in a million deal, a 6 figure mileage Mondeo however is neither.

I'm not sure I get the "yeah but its a v6 @18 = WIN" comments. Any kudos you get for telling your mates you have a 2.5L V6 goes straight out of the window when you pull up in what looks like their dads car... in a worse colour. What other people might think shouldn't come into it at all.

And it came with dodgy hissing, knackered brakes and questionable PAS ;)

only thing wrong with it was a broken seal on the brake servo cost nothing to fix, its 100% perfect now although it might need a new clutch in a few month. the PAS was fine btw just old fluid

It's a much nicer car and has nearly 50% more power

indeed it's in a different league to the focus, much more modern and well built, who cares if its a reps car or if its bigger its a great car the mk3 i dunno why i didn't get one sooner. i also just worked my mpg and it average 35 mpg which was mosty town driving with some hard trashing

Buying a V6 is not to be entered in to lightly. If you are not sure then fair play don't do it.

You make it sound as though there is something mysterious about having 6 (or even imagine 8 or 12! ) cylinders on your engine rather than 4 :p

Car History: R19 1.4,Mondeo 1.8LX,Xantia TD SX, Xantia HDI SX,Transit 2.5LWB,Accord Aerodeck 2.2ES,Xantia HDI Exclusive Estate+Nissan Silvia S12(sold)+Mk1 MX51.8

Do you say this as you've never had more than 4 cylinders in your engines? ;)

My statement still stands they are not worlds apart.

Focus will handle better, nicer to look at and I wouldn't feel any different driving the Zetec Mondeo than I do with the Focus. Same sort of cloth seats, similar dash insruments, same lack of toys more or less.

But of course you'd say without looking at the bigger picture. I wouldn't expect you not to blow smoke up any previous cars you've owned. :p

If you drive your car solely to maintain an image to your mates then keep the Focus, although I fail to see how a 5 door Focus is any younger than a Mondeo.

If you want a car which is superior in almost every way and are secure enough with yourself that you don't worry so much about what your mates think, get the Mondeo.

You never had any intention of doing the swap though so I don't know why I'm replying.

Compared to this car it is.

Please don't go out of your way to reply. I said I was considering the car nothing set in stone. No point rushing into buying a new car.

Don't then, or could you not resist getting a sly dig in

This car looks lke something my dad would drive, it isn't only me that has said this, shock horror but this actually matters to me. Are you telling me image never comes into the equation when you buy a car?

EDIT : Just seen your car history, obviously not :p

Focus doesn't have the best image but a better one IMO and that's what counts after all I'm buying the bloody thing.

Dons please close, thread has served it's purpose now.

And what was that? :p

tbh I would much rather drive round in a specced out v6 mondeo than a little 1.6 focus which all your friends probably have... It might not be the best colour but it still looks good :)

I'd rather have something slightly different to a corsa, clio, focus, punto, saxo or a ka..

A difficult one, well specced car for the money, would be really nice to waft about in... just dont buy it and expect it to be a rocket ship just because it has a 2.5l V6 :)
